Rating: Summary: Not what it says it is... Review: This book covers many areas of VB development and is okay as a quick reference. But....like most technical books it has a terrible index. It also has no depth to it...I realize it is designed as a quick look-up text but even so a bit more background on things like DAO,ADO would have been helpful.
Rating: Summary: Ohhhhhhh Yes! Review: This book cuts to the chase and gets down to business with great examples, which don't drag on like most other books on the subject. Especially if you have an important VB project to get done and don't have time to design "juke-box" applications just to find out how a single control works! I recommend this book without reservation!
Rating: Summary: Good, but lacks depth. Review: This book does a good job of covering several controls and topics. My only complaint is that it lacks depth and coverage of each topic. It gives few real life examples. But overall its a good resource for VB developers.
Rating: Summary: Real Black Book! Review: This book is the most practical guide I know for Visual Basic Programming. It covers up-to-date features on VB6. The CD contains many codes of small projects on various topics that really works. If you want to learn VB programming, this is the book you must have.
Rating: Summary: Below Average Review: This book is VERY high level. It gives very few examples. I am a beginner-intermediate and learn well out of a good reference book. I don't consider this a good reference book even as a beginner. I purchased this because I thought the C++ Black Book was very good. This book does rate with the C++ Black Book.
Rating: Summary: This book RULES!!! Review: This book tries to be the "End-all Be-all" in VB texts. And, I must say, it succeeds. It answers "almost" all my questions. Any gaps are filled in with "The Waite Group's Visual Basic 6 How-To ". With these two books at your side you won't need anything else.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Visual Basic resource Review: This book was organized in an excellent manner. It was easy to find what I needed and it has adequate examples.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: This is a great book. Holzner really covers Visual Basic 6 quite well. I have read a number of other computer books by him, and he is an excellent writer. I had high expectations when I purchased this book, and it surpassed those expectations. I strongly recommend this book to people for want to learn more about visual basic or want a good reference book on the topic!
Rating: Summary: This is a great refence Review: This is a great refence. It has helped me a lot. I learned a lot from this book!
Rating: Summary: A "Must Have" reference book!!! Review: This is a must have reference book for any VB programmers intermediate level and up. If you're looking to learn VB from scratch, I don't recommend it, but a reference book can't help intermediate and advanced users if it's geared towards beginners. This book manages to cover a wide array of almost anything you'll need to help you through a problem. Had I bought this book a couple of months earlier, I would have had many less headaches.
