Summary: Uh-Hum, That's 35 Stars- 5 ea.+ 5 for price & convenience
Review: If you are lucky enough to read this, BUY THE DARN THING. Seriously, five of the best PERL books at one low price with the ease & convenience of a search tool. Absolutely the fastest way to get what you need. I actually copied the CD onto my harddrive so I don't have to worry about taking in and out- it is always there.

Okay, Here's the plan. If you already know some PERL, you should have already added it to your cart. If you don't, go buy "Perl & Cgi: The Visual Quickstart Guide". This will introduce you to the syntax, the architecture, and other basics. Then buy this CD/ Book and go visit several PERL web resources. You will be a PERL expert in no time.

Summary: 6 books! What more do you need to know!?!
Review: If you program in Perl, this is a godsend. 6 great reference books for a price much less than buying them all seperate. If you can handle viewing the books through a browser, there are absolutely no strikes against this package.

Summary: Great tool for new and old Perl Programmers
Review: Like many first time Perl programmers I bought the O'Reilly paperbacks: Learning Perl, Programming Perl, and Advanced Perl Programming. I stumbled upon this compilation CD while looking for the Perl Cookbook paperback and boy was I glad that I got the CD instead. The best things about the CD are: 1) You don't have to lug around all those books 2) You can search through all the books or individual books for examples and text 3) You can cut and paste code into your own programs and run it right away. 4)It's a lot cheaper than buying all the books. This is the CD to own if you are going to program in Perl.

Summary: Terrific reference, but ...
Review: Terrific reference (read the other reviews for more details :-), but it could be great to get with such a bookshelf, "Mastering Algorithms with Perl" and "Mastering Regular Expressions". But well, with all that, we REALLY won't buy any other book about perl!

Summary: Very useful
Review: The Perl books are arguably the best of the O'Reilly's, and these are the best of the Perl. For many subjects, an online reference might be clunky, but not here. It is tremendously useful to have all 6 books on one CD. I often use the meta-index to look up terms. It is useful to have different points of view - the cookbook and the traditional definitions. Good for beginner and expert.

Summary: Only Perl resource you need!
Review: This book and CD set will provide you with everything you need to work efficently in Perl. Its not good if you don't already know some Perl, but if you are looking for a good reference book then this is it.

Summary: Singing praises for awsome book
Review: This is the best Perl reference folks. Upon getting it I went from zero Perl programmer to intermediate one. It very easy to find what you are looking and just keep copying and pasting code into the code editor. The CD is replete with both references and excellent code samples. Comprare prego questo libro!

Summary: Very good reference, a lot of examples, easy to search
Review: With the help of this CD I managed to master Perl in 4 months. (I was already a good shell and C programmer.) This CD covers everything from basics to advanced WWW programming. The weak point of this CD is the search engine. It is difficult to make run it on some Win95. There are some missing details in the advanced examples but with a little search it is easy to get around them.
