Review: All I can say is that if everyone in the class had trouble understanding than you must have had a really bad teacher. Not all teachers who teach at the college level are going to be good. I'm currently a MIS/Finance major at Auburn University who is now taking Visual Basic with this textbook, and I absolutely love this book! I'm not claiming to be an expert at VB because I've had no prior programming experience. But I've had no problems learning to program using VB6 with this book. In addition to this book, I also use "Visual Basic Controls in a Nutshell" (O'Reilly) and it has also proved to be very helpful.

Summary: Great Book
Review: BAD! BAD! BAD! If you have no experience in Basic programming, then you are wasting your time and money buying this book. I just finished a College class in Visal Basic that used this text. If I had not taken BASIC some years earlier, I would not have had a clue about programming structure. Most of the other students in the class were completely lost.

Summary: Great Book
Review: This book has taught me how to program in Visual Basic and I had no prior experience in programming. I highly recommend it to beginning programmers who want to learn VB. The book is colorful, interesting and to the point.

Summary: Best programming language book for beginners
Review: This book is highly recommended for Visual Basic beginners. I wish William E. Burrows could write good books for other languages. If so, the world would be full of programmers.

Summary: Response to 1 star review
Review: This is more in response to the 1 star review than anything else. I also took the vb class (taught by the author). Those who didn't do well or didn't like the book were the same people that didn't do the work. This book was my first taste of programming and I thought the examples were very well written and well thought out. I recommend this book to every non-programmer I meet. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
