Summary: Upgrading and repairing PC's, 11th Ed
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading up-to-date technical information on new PCs and their parts. The author's style and his talent for explaining complex concepts to novices must be recognized ! Based on his book, I can confidently decide how to select a new PC's components suited to my needs.

Informations on upgrading and repairing PCs may be intended for advanced PC users as they seem so brief and very skimpy in step-by-step instructions. Unfortunately, a novice like myself needs more illustrations and detailed procedures. This book is an excellent book for up-to-date background informations on all aspects of PCs. The book's title may be somewhat misleading for novices . The author could have balanced his superb technical informations with a lot more procedural illustrations to qualify the current title of " Upgrading and Repairing PCs" ! Or else, please add "for advanced users ". In my opinion, to keep the current title, the author should devote at least 60 percent of total pages on actual upgrading and repairing of PCs. Overall, this is an excellent book for in-depth understanding up-to-date features of PCs. As for upgrading and repairing PCs, it is definitely unsuitable for novices.

Summary: Great book that everyone that owns a computer should have!
Review: Whether you are a serious computer tech or just starting out this book is for you. It has everything you could every wonder about from the 8088 to the Pentium III. I highly recommend this book to all. I actually have from his 7th edition all the way to his tenth. I am on my way out to purchase the 11th edition now. If you are looking into becoming A+ Certified I would also recommend Scott's Ultimate A+ Certification package from Amazon. ISBN 0-7357-0071-0

Summary: An excellent refrence
Review: I must admitt that this book does not include as much information regarding the actual upgrade and repair processes, however it includes info on just about anything else. This book is for people who really want to know what is going on inside the computer and understand a lot of computer jargon. It is clearly written, and has many graphics that help a lot. Recommended!

Summary: 11th edition and still going strong!
Review: Everytime a new version of hardware and software emerge thereis bound to be bugs to follow. Normally books are the same, ScottMueller's Upgrading and Repairing PCs has change that rule with the 11th Edition.

1600 plus pages of more information on pc repair and upgrades than the average technician will ever use is what you'll find once you open the cover. Mueller exceptional expertise is evident from page one.

Filled with diagrams, pictures, tables and tips and notes, every technician will be able to find the answers to most if not all hardware questions. Que Corporation is a trusted and respected name in computer books.

The books has a cd included, which gives you PartitionMagic and Drive Magic, a $100.00 value. Couple that with the extensive technical knowledge contained in the book and you have a certain unbeatable combination.

Summary: SO well-written!
Review: Read it? Well, not exactly...My hardcover copy of the 11th Ed only arrived this morning, but so far I have referred to it five times.

The explanations are clear and easy to understand. There is a huge amount of information, but none of it is gratuitous, referring exactly to the component or the issue that you are dealing with. Pics are clear, tables are foot-noted, abbreviations are explained, the index is comprehensive and the entire text is beautifully cross-referenced.

I would strongly recommend this book to anyone with the slightest interest in how computers function and how or why they sometimes screw-up. Any 'would-be' authors of computer books out there really ought to read this, too, just to see how the job should be done.

Thanks, Amazon. Price, packaging and delivery were pretty impressive too!

Summary: Great book whether you are studying for A+ or need a ref.
Review: I originally bought this book to study for the A+ certification. It helped me pass the exam with flying colors!

And even though I am done with it as a study guide, I can still keep it around for reference.

Scott has done a great job keeping on top of the everchanging computer industry.
