Summary: A good reference for tinkerers
Review: I buy one of these every time I replace one of my PCs. They do not stay up to date that long. I like this book better than Minasi's "PC Upgrade & Maintenance Guide". It seems to have more information. This is probably the one I'll buy with my next PC.Yet Mueller's book is still useful after all these years for the older PCs in my stable. The information about setting hard-drives up in the Bios alone is worth the money I paid for the book - though I found some inconsistencies here. The book will also help you understand how components of your PC works, yet it is not a reference on how to fix the operating system. Hardware troubleshooting is fairly well covered though. I did not find the cd-roms particularly useful.

Review: In only a few words, one can only describe this book as a bible of working on and with PC's. Layout is clear, concise, thouroghly indexed. A veritable wealth of knowledge, facts, and data. This is perhaps the only book you will need for seriously working on PC's. A real 5***** book. A book I wish I had purchased before now.

Review: The book is not so good as it appears at a first glance, often it lacks information you need for buying or repairing, for examples there are only a few words about PC-100 or PC-133 RAM specifications, moreover information are sometimes difficult to find. However the videos in the CD are good and so the website, but if you want the best buy PC Hardware in a Nutshell by Thompson.

Review: This is the newest edition (13th) of one of the most classical books about computer hardware in the world, which has sold over 2 million copies. The book comes with a CD-ROM containing more than 2 hours of step-by-step videos. With over than 1,500 pages and published on hard cover, this book shows details regarding the inside workings of the PC with very cool pictures and drawings. It includes all new tecnologies, since it is very, very, very updated (the book was lauched on Aug 27th, 2001).

Review: If you're new to PC repair, or even if you've been doing it for years, this book will teach you many things that you didn't know. Many subjects that are glossed over by other books are covered in great detail here. Scott Mueller really knows his stuff, and he conveys it in such an easy to understand way. Highly recommended!
