Summary: Value for Time!
Review: Great book for all those Java Gurus running short of time to keep abreast of technologies.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The knowledge in this book is broad and deep.
Review: The range of topics and the light the authors shed on each of them is exceptional and it is written in a can't-put-it-down pace ( the discussion of Jini and JavaSpaces got my heart pounding ). It is obvious the authors possess extensive experience and thorough understanding and this book is packed with it!

Summary: 1100 pages of terriffic information
Review: I am new to server side programming, and relatively new to Java. This book is packed with great information, even for me. Three chapters into the book I couldn't wait to get started, and I was already equipped with enough information to write basic server side programs. Some of the things that I found most valuable: Information on how to configure some of the more popular web servers to run Java Servlets; An explanation of HTTP; The pros and cons of CGI, JavaServer Pages, Active Server Pages, and Java Servlets; Detailed information about the Java Servlet API.

It does not contain a lot of information about Java programming in general (syntax, general API info, etc., ) so if you are new to Java you will need a Java API book to supplement.

Summary: Good start for developing server side java code
Review: After going through a series of training session and still get confused. By Java Server Programming, lots of examples demonstrate the real world case where you can apply and test out instantly.

Summary: Superb JSP Section
Review: I bought this book for one reason only: the chapter on JSP Programming. Unlike the light examples mostly available on the web, the chapter explores a lot of the features of JSP, including delcaratives, error pages, java beans (very important), connecting to databases, a summary of the implicit objects available to the environmnent, and more. The author took the time to understand the underlying architecture and explain it. I found it to be tremendously helpful.

Review: This book has the just the right amount of content to teach the Java Server Programming.

Summary: Very Helpful to start server side programming using Java
Review: I really liked this book as it covered all the topics. Very good to start with. But if you want to concentrate on any one of the above topics...It would be better to go for more advanced book.

This book is basically an overview of all the topics mentioned in title. There are many examples and they are really helpful !

Summary: Excellent Resource
Review: For server-side Java, this is a fabulous book. Well written, consistent and full of code examples. The best part is the references to good practices and implementation, so it really isnt an academic book, but more of a real-world book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simply the best book on Java Server side progamming
Review: I spent a lot of money to buy "Enterpise Java" books available in the market today only to find that most of them either lacked depth of coverage or the topics covered are outdated (or both).

This book covers all the Enterprise APIs very well and the latest versions at that! Each chapter has plenty of useful examples and the appendix section itself contains enough material to justify publishing it as a separate book. Very invaluable for persons programming on the Server side using Java Enterprise APIs.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Style
Review: The name of the book should be something like 'Java Servlets', but I am still very happy to have the title. Not a tutorial-style, but peer-to-peer experience sharing. Appendices are well-chosen and very valuable. It is the first book I've seen that contains all the top technology between two covers.
