With an excellent lay out and format, Lee Anne Phillips starts at square one and progresses to more advanced topics. You will not get bored or lost with this book. Co-Author Bill vernon's support and interest is the best seen to date! If you want a homepage, buy this book!!

Summary: Great book all the way around!
Review: Thank you so much to Lois Patterson, you made a change in my entire life! About 9 months ago I was introduced to the idea of designing web sites. I figured I would give it a shot to see what would happen. I rummaged through some books at my bookstore and decided to buy this one. It is great! The author made every part of HTML easy to understand. Then when you are done with the HTML part, they give you an intro to other languages such as jscript, vbscript, dhtml, and cgi. I will only buy QUE published books for the rest of my web site education!

Summary: Clear. Concise. Dependable.
Review: The book lives up to it's tagline (if only Netscape and Microsoft would). I found the book very useful for explaining big picture concepts as well as useful detailed examples. I would recommend it to anyone starting out up to advanced users seeking a html 4.0 reference book.

Summary: Pretty Good Book
Review: This book is pretty good for basic HTML. It really gets you started for the Internet and standard web publishing. The other half of the book was about Dynamic HTML, getting understanding of JavaScript, XML, and other things. It did that pretty well, and I am still reading different sections.

Not the Best book but satisfying and above average.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Concise, and answers the right questions at the right time
Review: This is a very good book. The authors have done an excellant job of explaining HTML, yet have maintained an unusual degree of conciseness for a book this large.

I used information from the first twelve chapters to redesign my website. The explanations of tables and frames, in particular, where a good match for my current level of expertise. Not a lot of fluff to read through--just meat. I was able to make use of both features just after reading a few pages. As I read through each chapter, the authors answered the right questions at the right times.

If the remaining 34 chapters are as well done as the first 12, my money will have been well spent.
