Summary: Terrible as an HTML companion book
Review: Although this book covers pretty much all the elements of HTML, I discovered a significant number of incomplete syntax specifications. I was especially disappointed in its coverage of forms. The chapter just breezed through all the different types of form elements and didn't explain how data from these elements are handled when submitting a form. Because of the inadequacy of this book, I often find myself having to surf on the Net to find answers to my HTML questions.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great beginning reference.
Review: As a new HTML user I found this book to be one of the best of the references for beginners. The introductory chapters can be a bit tedious if you are already familiar with computers and the web, but the rest of the book is full of useful information that will keep pace with your development.

I recommend it as one of the best references for people starting to develop their own web pages.

Summary: A great guide to HTML
Review: As a relative beginner, this book has been an absolute god-send. The author manages to be both informal and informative, providing an easily accessible yet highly comprehensive body of work that avoids the overly jocular tones that often crop up in this sort of publication. The first few chapters will drag for all but the total beginner. However these are essential in providing a solid foundation and lead you with ease in to later, more complicated territories. From hear, the authors take you effortlessly in to the less accessible areas of web development. Definitely worth the investment.

Summary: The BEST HTML book I have read yet !
Review: Before buying this book, I was wondering what could have been packed in it to make it around 600 pages more than the average HTML books I have read so far.....When I got it in my hands and started perusing its pages, I got the feeling that I have got back every penny spent on it ! The best book on HTML I have come across and it should be your HTML's reference book from now on.

Summary: Great for beginners!
Review: Covered a lot of essential fundamental skills. It gives you a better understanding behind HTML coding. You will need another resource book if you're planning to create a more technical site, however, it gives you a brief idea of what JavaScript & CGI look like. Great coverage on HTML frames, forms, grahics, links, dynamic styles, etc.

If you are not a good reader, prepare to spend extra time on this book. It tends to bore you out after a while.

Summary: Comprehensive from the basics to more advanced techniques.
Review: From it's basic introductory chapters to the indispensible appendixes at the end, this book is a great resource for all levels of HTML users. Examples are plentiful and explained in terms that are easy to understand. Topics are well laid out and easy to reference and the appendixes make searching for element tags, color numbers, definitions and much more a real breeze. The author also makes good use of cautionary sidenotes when dealing with code that may be incompatible with certain browsers. Overall, this book is a good value.

Summary: Very informative!
Review: I bought several HTML books and a class to help me get started and I can say that I had a hard time putting a page together. After going through this book, I was able to get a much better understanding. This book has many illustrations which would help the beginner get started right away. Although very lengthy at times (covers a whole lot), I would highly recommend this book

Summary: This book should be required text for all future HTML'ers
Review: I bought this book before I had a computer in my home. However, by the time I had finished the second chapter, I was already composing web pages in my head. Lee Anne does an excellent job of introducing the ins and outs of correct HTML coding. Not only does she bring you up to par with todays coding standards but, she uses keen far-sight to prepare you for the nuances and ever evolving standards of the web. If you are searching for a straight-as-an-arrow approach to web page building, then I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Excellent approach , easily grasped definitions
Review: I have a web development and hosting team that has been employing all the latest technology and techniques to the industry. To find a quick reference to a large body of information is essential to productivity. So I was pleasantly surprised to find the text and definitions in this book so comprehensive yet easily grasped. I have found it a convenient source for CSS and Scripting characteristics. Because of the simplicity of explantions I would recommend it even to beginners of HTML and it's associative parts.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Incredibly well written!
Review: I have bought several other books on HTML and they were all garbage. Everyone else tries to be too technical and longwinded. While this book reads very well, it doesn't sacrifice content. It takes you all the way from 'hello world' to advanced CGI, though I think you should mainly purchase this as an HTML book. This really is the best programming book I've ever bought.
