Rating: Summary: Not bad, but index is poor Review: A good first read on ASP, this book explains the basic object model and structure very well.Sadly, the index is noticably thin, which diminishes the work's very as reference material. On several occasions I simple couldn't find information that I knew I'd read before. This reviewer hasn't read many other books on ASP, but is convinced there's something better out there.
Rating: Summary: A very good book Review: A real good introduction to what ASP is all about. It gives a broad overview about ADO and uses a lot of Vbscript. Completely avoids on JScript. Also the samples that you can download needs a lot more explanation...Good book to buy!
Rating: Summary: Great way to get started Review: A well-written book with superb appendices.
Far and away superior to Working with ASP.
I recommend this book for all web site developers,
particularly those interested in linking their web servers with SQL server.
Rating: Summary: Awesome - The best start-to-finish ASP book Review: After going thru a number of other asp books I find this book to be the premier source of information on the subject. The topics covered are from the ground-zero level without spoon-feeding yet the material will help build a foundation for advanced application needs. It is obvious that for the advanced development one should seek specialized books addressing the topics - eg: ADO, Java & Active-X, ExchangeServer intergration etc. Compelling Reading !!
Rating: Summary: Clearly leads the pack! Review: As a non programmer, I could not believe how incredibly easy it was to learn ASP. Your examples are quite easy to understand. I wasted a lot of time & money with the other books. You should have named this book "Active Server Pages For Dummies." Bravo Alex.

Rating: Summary: Best of the best on learning ASP Review: As a physician developing an intranet for our medical group and needing an efficient cost effective way to get interactivity between our web pages and our corporate databases(Foxpro,Access,Sybase, and Oracle)...ASP is the fastest and easiest way to do it. As for learning "ASP" no other "ASP" book comes close to this one in readibility and usefulness. If MD technonerds can do ASP, anyone can! And this book teaches best!
Rating: Summary: Best "Beyond the Basics" ASP book today Review: As of August 97, it's the best buy on ASP. Assumes some basic knowledge on the subject (which is GOOD).
More in depth than the Wille book which I consider the second best, and the appendices are excellent.
Good discussion on using ASP with MS Index Server and great variety of other ASP related systems/topics
Rating: Summary: ASP is not as difficult as you think! Review: Before, I had no idea what ASP is about other than a file extension. Now, after a few hours of reading the book and creating little snippets of ASP code, I can't believe I already know ASP. If you have any experience in Visual Basic, ASP is easy. I recommend this book to anyone interested in creating dynamic database-driven websites.
Rating: Summary: Awesome. Money well spent! Review: First book I've read and thought it deserves a 10, simply because of its direct impact to my everyday projects. The author has clearly used ASP himself. This is not your usual 'academic' approach to a subject. Great examples and specific details (like using redirection from within a page instead of the header). Takes the mystery out of global.asa and sessions. Great ADO info. Very project oriented, like user authentication discussion.
