Summary: Not very good
Review: Apparently the author thought the first starcraft book was good, and that the outline worked. He must not have received feedback from the first book in time to make the necessary changes to the second book. Anyway:

1) It describes the new units well enough, but so does the FAQ. It then goes on to describe the units but not in consistent detail. If I were reading this book only, or using as my only reference, "What is the attack range for ALL units including defensive units?". I guess he didn't check his book for consistency of information. Not good if he is intending to write more books.

2) The second half of the book is how to walk through and avoid the pit-falls of the "traps" in the missions. Would've been nice to include a general strategy. Also, if it was supposed to be thorough it could've given you the strategy to even beat the traps. As I progressed through the missions, I started destroying everything on the game board before finishing the mission (which sometimes was exactly that goal, ha ha).

If you are a newbie or you want to beat the missions without thinking about strategy, buy this book (it also comes in the battlechest version of the game).

Summary: Stuck on a Single Player Mission in Broodwar?
Review: Are you stuck on a single player mission in Starcraft: Broodwar? If so then this book is for you, unless of course you want to degrade yourself and cheat.

I don't recommend using this book as a 'walkthrough' just use it for those missions you have tried and tried again without success. The strategies provided are clear and easy to understand. Even if you don't follow them exactly you can still get some good ideas as to how to go about the missions.

The book worked for me, and unless you're absolutely the worst Starcraft player ever it will probably work for you.

Summary: Falling StarCraft
Review: As far as helping you through the different levels of Brood War this book gets the job done and is written in the same style as his first StarCraft book. Farkas definately didn't earn his money writing this one. You get the distinct feeling that he played through the game and wrote down what he remembered in a weekend or he never played the game at all and wrote down what Blizzard's game designers told him. Based purely on the elements of what defines a well written book, this one falls flat on its face. How do you get so many spelling errors in a book today with spell-check and proof readers? Go to level C. Where? It's not even shown. The fine edge between winning and losing is found in the details, so where are the "cool down" times? Every chapter in the book contains these kind of mistakes and more. Buy the book to get you through Brood Wars but for no other reason. Lets hope he doesn't write a math or history book.

Summary: Starcrud!
Review: Chances are you probably got this guide with the Starcraft BattleChest. Good for you, you didn't buy it! If you're considering buying it, don't waste your money. Go buy Age of Empires or something.

The book features many errors. Not spelling errors, but serious errors that can badly misguide a novice Starcraft player. It cited the Corsair, the most over-powered single "unit" in the game, as "incredibly weak." Even worse, it offers strategies that are worth little more than a rock. The only plus side I can think of is those big maps. There is a statistics table of all the units in the back, but you can easily get those statistics online at one of Blizzard's web sites. Do not waste your time or money on this!

Summary: A nice piece of work.
Review: Great piece of work is all this book is! Great book, great strategies, and some nice ways to get you started on your campaign editing

Summary: Still quite a few errors
Review: Great, almost every time I read this, I find another error in the book. It says "Use care when deploying your Scarabs, or you'll end up taking out your own forces." Never once has my reaver hurt my own units. They may hurt friendly units(allies) but they don't hurt your own. Also, if you look in the back with the codes, typing in "Whats mine is mine" does not give 10,000 minerals. It gives 500. Typing in "Breathe deep" does not give 10,000 gas units, it gives 500. Also, "medieval man" doesn't disable the tech tree, it just researches everything in it.(research, not upgrades)

Summary: This is the worst guide ever
Review: I am an experienced SC player. My record is 124-12. This book is a bunch of junk and lies. They make stupid claims about units that aren't even true. The tips they give you, are bogus. They claim that a Terran Wraith is expensive to build. It is only 150 minerals and 100 gas, and for all that it does, that is a bargain! I love Wraiths, and I think they are very cheap to build. I am going through reading the book, and making edits from my experience on the game. I love when they say the Terran Battlecruiser is their most powerful unit. Those things are so worthless! I have never built one in my life, and never plan on doing so. For the price and unit supply they cost, they are not efficent.

I can go on and on about how terrible this book is, but what I am trying to say is, this book isn't worth the paper that it is printed on. If you truly need help in this game, you can e-mail me at Cfjoe068@msn.com and I will glady play online with you and answer any questions you have. I love teaching newbs what units do, and introducing the great world of SC to them the right way.

Summary: Campaigns ONLY
Review: I bought this book with the starcraft battle chest and I must say that this book is not very good. It is okay to use it for campaigns, but for custom games, it's horrible. Either the strategies are to basic, or they don't work. You'll find your self saying "Wow, thank you captin obvious." If you like to play capaigns, then you may want this book because it helps you a little bit. If you're like me and like to play custom games or have little intrests in campaigns, look elsewhere.

Summary: A pathetic spelling error
Review: I can't believe no one caught this error and talked about it. Even after the mistake with the tech tree that came with Broodwar(where it said the Goliath was a Seige Tank and the Dropship was an Observer), Bart Farkas still didn't fix it. If you look at the back of the book at the Terran unit tech tree, you notice that the Goliath now has it's correct name but the Dropship is still called Observer.
