Summary: Catch all the 3 Versions in a Book
Review: Decide to buy this book because it serves as a guide to all 3 versions of the Pokemon game (Red, Blue, and Yellow). Though it primarily focuses on the Yellow version, it doesn't lack telling one what he could expect and the differences in the other two.

The Pokedex provided inside is pretty cool too. Besides having a full listing of all the Pokemons, their types, and their learned skills at different levels, it also shows the locations where they could be found, and the TMs they could learn (something quite different from the guide books of Red and Blue).

Personally, I find the big 'tear-out' poster map attached at the back, plus the 2-pages rough outlines of what one needs to achieve at the different towns a very useful quick guide to start the game with.

A worthwhile book if you have yet owned any Red and Blue guides. Else, you might find many contents repeated, though you may still buy it for the poster map and comprehensive Pokedex.

Summary: A great guide!
Review: I bought this guide because I was stuck. I had not watched the cartoon series, so I was not sure what this game was really about. This guide was really helpful, probably the best game guide I have ever purchased. It is filled with explanations, cute pictures, and tips; the pokedex is informative, and I enjoy checking my Pokemon off the list after I have captured them. The best part of the guide is the tear out map, very handy. If you are a busy student and do not have hours to spend discovering the secrets of this game, don't feel guilty, get this guide!

Summary: Great Guide
Review: I purchased this guide after losing the original one from 3 years ago. I found this one much more detailed and a lot more helpful. Instead of flipping around pages to find which Pokemon is caught where then flipping to another page to find out what HM's and TM's it can learn, you can get it all on the page for that Pokemon. Thanks again for another great book.

Sincerely, Eileen Caprio

Summary: very helpful
Review: i use strategy guides mostly to track when a pokémon will acquire a new skill and sometimes for the maps. however...occasionally the write-up makes it sound as if the "one-of-a-kind" pokémon are really difficult to capture. for example, it said it would take 30 pokéballs to capture snorlax. i used TWO the first time i battled both of them. another example: 50 ULTRABALLS to capture articuno. i used FIVE after shutting my game off without saving it only once. another 50 ULTRABALLS to capture zapdos. i used ONE on my second try.

i hardly think i'm such a great strategic player that it's ME. so don't be scared like i was to go battle these pokémon, and don't waste your money like i did buying tons of pokéballs and expensive ultraballs until you've battled these rare pokémon a few times.
