Summary: Perfect book for those who don't want to be single
Review: A direct route from single to dating to coupled. Especially nice for shyfolk just putting their toes in the water.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great for all active singles, their curious friends & family
Review: I want to recommend this book to everyone I meet at online singles sites. Read it for fun!

I'm currently sharing copies with three friends (two in high-tech professions.) Even friends and parents of singles who are 'looking' online are asking me for a copy.

Why? Its great for the actively looking and the timid but curious, too. I'd been 'looking' online for about six months when this book was popped into my hands. I'd already found three good websites, but Nancy's suggestions helped me find two more. I can hardly keep up with the communications, and I'd already known Nancy's idea of creating a spreadsheet to track them.

"Putting Your Heart Online" acknowledges and discusses the successful strategies I've found on my own, and accurately reflects the realities I've experienced looking for a match online. It also provides some statistics and insights that make me feel a lot more secure as I venture into the (sometimes scary) cyberspace void.

Its given me courage to be straightforward in writing about what I want. It explains why I get completely inappropriate responses, how to respond to them, and how to increase the appropriate contacts.

This book provides technical guides for the cyber-naif, what information to share and when, and what to avoid. I wish it told me how to keep the conversations going after 20 exchanges, but for that, it could reference "Dating" by Josie Vogels, which addresses the basics of dating in general. Together these two make up a complete set for the modern single adult. Read and enjoy! [If you're married, read it and then go do nice things for your spouse :).]

Summary: Take a chance! Its worth it.
Review: I wish I'd read this book a year ago. This book gave me confidence to try online dating (again). I enjoyed reading the many personal anecdotes and laughed at the author's sly humor. I put into practice some of the author's ideas to improve my online profile. The number and quality of responses greatly improved. Finally, I would recommend this book to those in hi-tech professions who would especially appreciate this organized and analytical approach to the normally chaotic dating process.

Summary: Entertaining and informative even for the experienced

Summary: Take a chance! Its worth it.
Review: In this fast changing world technology seems to be far ahead of everyones notion of 'dating.' But as young professionals, who has time to find love? Doing the college thing of hitting the bars isn't going to get you anywhere. So why not try something more functional?

The book guide you and helps you learn the basics communication needs of the web dating services. Its clear and easy to understand and its worth your money. Buy it and go on line!

And since I already took a few minutes to write this review, let me put in my 2 cents of the different web sites;

There the professional ones, and there are the short and simple. AVOID the short and simple! What you see is what you get. If a person takes 2 minutes to write down his/her info - this is how much you will get out of it. Find a web site that demands you to write down essays, it going to take time and effort. But those two things add to value. A good example of such site is the Jewish dateing site ...jdate.com Being Jewish, it appears to me to be the best web site out there. It took over 2 hours to fill up all the information they wanted me to fill out, but then I had the chance to search and KNOW a lot about the differnt people out there. For those of you who are not Jewish, I'm sure there are lots of other web sites that demand the same effort. Use those sites.

And good luck. Your someone special is out there...maybe he/she needs to be on-line, but they are out there.

Keep smiling,

EK

Summary: Be an online dating expert on your first try
Review: The author has done a brilliant job of showing the pitfalls and possibilities available in Internet matchmaking services. Following her advice makes me confident that I will be able to meet interesting people online.

Summary: Great Look at Searching for Love Online
Review: This book is a guide to searching for that "special someone" using the Internet. Not only does Nancy explain to "techno novices" how to use the 'Net (for example, email etiquette and a handful of appendices explaining the Internet and Internet terms), but also what to look for and what to watch out for in a prospective partner.

For men, it explains how to increase your odds of getting responses by being creative with your ad. It also discusses what not to say in your ad..very valuable information!

I loved some of the examples given of creative and succesful ads shown in the book. There's lots of good advice in this book and I intend to use it the next time I run an ad online.

Summary: This book is well worth buying!
Review: This book is designed for anyone who may be interested in checking out the now considerable opportunities to meet someone by placing a personal ad online, with any of the numerous companies that offer such a service.

The book makes clear that you need very few computer skills -- little more than the ability to browse the Web -- to make use of such services.

This book makes no assumption that you have any experience with online personal ads, and quickly leads the beginner through the necessary basics. But as someone who's been playing with online personal ads for over two years, I still found this book chock full of extremely valuable advice.

The author seems to have thought of every possible aspect of this endeavor, and draws liberally from her own experience as well as that of others in offering many examples of things that worked, and things that didn't.

Her writing is crystal-clear, friendly, and amazingly thorough in covering her subject.

The book contains a plethora of information in the appendices regarding the differences among different online matching services.

The book also contains an enormous amount of good practical advice that is applicable to any kind of dating at all (on- or off-line), even valuable to the experienced dater.

If I were coerced to find one fault with the book, it would be the very minor carp that the book is perhaps unnecessarily devoid of nonsense. It might be a bit more fun were it infused with some more whimsy.

But in any case I highly recommend this book to anyone who may be remotely considering the fascinating endeavor of putting his or her heart online.
