Summary: Best thing about the book is the free MS VC++ CD ROM
Review: Its an OK Book but is too basic. The most complicated subect matter is probably pointers. I'd say get this book (for the CD rom) then get another book that has some serious code. Oh yeah, and the author could have done much better with the input functions. He used CIN and they are useless. cin.getlines would have been much more appropriate.

Review: This book is the reason I like programming this much. It explains everything a beginner should wonder. Something like you are having private lessons from an expert.

Review: This is an excellent book for beginners. I know, I was one. When I read this book, it opened my eyes to all the possibilites in programming. Before I bought this book I had no idea on how to program. But I can now say that I can have an intelligent conversation about programming.
