Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Outdated and Way Behind the Power Curve Review: Lemay wouldn't know current Web publishing
and design issues if they introduced themselves
to her. I must say I was extremely disappointed.
Definitely NOT a good choice if you want to learn anything beyond the basics.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Comprehensive, Well-Rounded, Well-written Book! Read it! Review: Let's face it; we've all read techinical books that have a better success rate with inducing sleep than most drugs do! Certainly the size of Laura's book might intimidate one into thinking that this book will do the same. Let me tell you that it will NOT. You will remain very much awake and want to!
This is the second by I have read by Lemay and I found this book to be an excellent teaching & a fabulous reference tool. Truly, it covers all the topics necessary for a person who is starting out in HTML and is serious about the propect of developing web pages. I write web pages for a living. I do it well because of what I have learned from this book. In fact, I liked it so much; I bought one for my father and have recommended this book to a small army of other people! I will say this much: if you are a detail oriented person, then you will be Very Happy with this book. If you are a spur of the moment, "just teach me a few things and let me go with it", then perhaps one of her more laconic books would best suit you. Good luck!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I liked it. Review: Massive is right, honey, this book weighs five pounds and if you're new to Web publishing the book is worth every aching muscle you'll get hauling it around. I didn't have 14 days to lose, but the parts I needed were digestible in one or two days max. This is the book for anybody who has to hit the info-super-highway pavement running. And, if you've got time to dawdle, there's plenty of instruction on all that fancy stuff that'll have your friends wasting their cyber-dimes ogling your awsome handiwork. Throw in the fact that Laura Lemay is a certified hoot and you can't beat this book with a stick
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I got a page up and running in two days. Review: My day job is sales, which takes up too much time for me to take a course in HTML or computers. Everything I know, which is par for a layperson, came from books. This book is excellent for a non-geek who wants to do more than load up Home Page or Pagemill and grind out a canned Internet presence.
Not only did I get up and running quickly, but I actually understand the convoluted principles upon which HTML exits. I learned how CGI scripts work, etc. I highly recommend this book and the Macworld "Creating Cool Web Pages With HTML 3.2."
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A good book for Beginners Review: Quite a good book for beginners who wants to learn not only HTML, but a bit of everything eg. JavaScript, CGI, images and plug-in. Why I didn't give it a FOUR star is because the book going far too detail. What it covers in 200 pages can be indeed covered in 40 pages. To be fair, I am an experienced software developer so I can just go thru the syntax and learn the language. Anyway, it did really give me valuable background information other than just learning HTML.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Easy to understand book that covers it all Review: Several years ago I used this book to teach myself HTML. I started on page one and went through the book. By the time I went through the very clearly written chapters I had an excellent understanding of HTML. I had bought other books, but they were not organized as logically and clearly as this book is. After buying this book, the only other HTML book I ever opened was a tag book. This even has color codes and other resource materials. Because of this book (and several years of heavy practice) I now consider myself an expert HTML user, and I've been confidently able to move on to CSS, nested tables, and other fancy stuff without relying on WYSIWYG editors.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Tired & Worn Review: This book is a great BIG yawn that covers the basics of HTML...Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Harr
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great introduction to HTML as well as a reference guide. Review: This edition offers a wealth of information and is fairly current. The lessons are divided into a logical and easy to follow format although it is hard to keep up with her pace. I kept falling behind, sometimes by days. See if you can keep up. The only other criticism would be the lack of proper proofreading as there seems to be an abundance of typos and other errors
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Very helpful book from begining to end. Review: This is a very good book to buy for anyone interested in Web
publishing or HTML in general. It begins with the basics of web page design and HTML tags, and continues through to the more complicated HTML tags. This book even goes into the
webmaster side of the World Wide Web discussing such things as a secure web server and access control. Ms. Lemay always keeps
you informed of what will and will not work with the different
browsers, and even includes sections on advanced features still
evolving in the web world such as, Java, Frames, JavaScript and
CGI. This book is an excellent tool for the begineer, and will
be a great resource for anyone working on the web. I know it will be on my bookshelf for a long time to come.
