Rating: Summary: A concise and friendly reference Review: This book is a concise and friendly guide that is great for admins. It proved itself the first time that I had a problem allowing me to quickly find the answer I needed.
Rating: Summary: Paid for itself in the first day Review: This book is a must have for both administrators and developers. I own several books on SQL Server but none have paid dividends like this one did. It is clearly written, not overly technical, and extremely informative. I especially like the Code Blue sections which provide information and advice on items that most of us have been tripped on. It is like having an experience technical guru on your desk for 30 bucks. The sections on Data Transformation Services and Linked Servers are extremely well done.

Rating: Summary: Good resource Review: This is an excellent book. The coverage of SQL Server is very solid. However, if you plan to purchase the author's newest book, SQL Server 2000 for Experienced DBAs, DO NOT purchase this book. The newer book covers everything this book covers, in addition to the topic of high availability. Owning both books would be completly redundant, a mistake I personally made.

Rating: Summary: Must Have for SQL Server DBA Review: This is one of those most have books for any SQL Server DBAs reference library. Brian Knight covers a LOT of different items and goes into sufficient detail on all topics. Probably the best real world book on SQL Server administration out there. I've worked with SQL Server for over 5 years and have been a senior DBA over a large enterprise SQL Server farm but I still learned a great deal from this book.
Rating: Summary: Buy this today... Review: This is the top book for SQL 2000 administration. Mr. Knight has excelled in putting together a book that is sensible, readable, and highly critical for day-to-day administration of SQL Server 2000. Folks are always asking for my opinion on a book to help them get over some of the advanced tasks of SQL Server. This is it! It goes a long way answering those questions that you ask yourself everyday. Instead of hunting on the Internet every time you need a solution, carry this book with you.
