Summary: Good Book for Beginners
Review: There aren't many Carrara books around. In fact, I know of only another book (Carrara for Dummies) by the same author. This is definite better.What is good about this book? For a start, if you are frustrated with the manual that comes with the software, this is a good replacement. It contains more accurate information and useful, easy-to-understand instructions to follow which gets the beginner to learning in no time. But if are not a beginner and have dabbled with the software well, then this is not for you. Many concepts are common to those in the manual just that this book illustrates the concepts better with more accurate details. Would have given five stars if there were more goodies on the CD-ROM. This is a good Carrara total beginner's book... can really learn from this book !!

Review: This book covers all the different aspects of Carrara 1.0 and its CD-ROM is packed with the best you can find. You may find that there is too much detail in the book, but soon you will discover why this will help you to become a master of your own talent.

Review: This book is definitly not worthy of the $40 I payed for it. It doesn't give any techniques or tips for doing anything, all it does it explain how to "technically" do things in Carrara. Even the picture gallery in the book is horrible. I could make the images in it in 10 minutes. Just about everything in this book could also be read in the manual. I sent my copy back. I give it two stars because someone who can't understand the simple text in the manual may get something out of this book. For the rest of us intermediate-advanced users, this one is worthless

Review: When I took my first timid steps into 3D I was armed with a creative mind, a 3D program, and the program's user manual. Like most such manuals, this one covered the basics and a bit more, but only rarely did it dig deeply into the program and offer me real-world, hands-on experience with the software. To add insult to injury, the text was often peppered with confusing techno-talk that left me scratching my head. My goal throughout the writing of Carrara 1 Bible has been to inform, not intimidate. I have tried to present information in a logical, task-oriented, hands-on manner using a minimum of technical jargon. I have also tried to provide something for everyone, from the 3D beginner who doesn't know a pixel from a polygon to the 3D veteran wanting to embrace all of Carrara's subtle nuances and deploy all its advanced features. The book covers all aspects of Carrara, including several undocumented features. Step-by-step tutorials are liberally sprinkled throughout the chapters. The CD-ROM that accompanies the book is packed with demo software, trial version software, and shareware. Also included are the Carrara scene files for all the tutorials, plus 15 highly detailed 3D models, courtesy of Viewpoint Digital and Zygote Inc.
