Rating: Summary: Just as the title states. Review: The best most complete guide to Action Scripting. This book is not for the novice, but for the serious Flash coder. The book is well organized, and easy to follow, yet contains powerfull actions scripting tools.
Rating: Summary: "And the winner is... us! Thank you Colin Moock!" Review: If you have any desire to explore the possibilities of programming in Flash with ActionScript, get this book! It is easily the best I've found on the subject, but you don't have to be a programming wiz to benefit from it, because Colin has taken the time to explain everything and I mean everything, including basic programming from an ActionScript point of view. Experienced programmers should also find this reference very useful, because it is so full of technical information and intricacies about Flash and ActionScript that you just can't seem to get anywhere else. Bravo! Revised: August 1, 2001 After finishing this book, I well could use up all my 1000 words before giving it a six star rating, but I won't. However, I will say, "It is simply outstanding!" Colin's insite into localizing code and creating portable functions has totally rewritten my strategies for creating code in Flash. Throughout this.book, he has also provided many "functions" that are extremely useful, totally portable, exquisite in design and inspiring in nature. Again... Thank You Mr. Moock!
Rating: Summary: This is "THE BOOK" for ActionScripting Review: If you intend to really learn AS (ActionScripting) then this is the book you need. It is filled with a precise and complete knowledge of what AS is all about. I feel enlightened about AS now, I am no longer wandering about in the dark, I have a true and guiding light in the form of this book. This is the book I waited for, for so long. This book has helped me immensly, I have tripled my knowledge of AS in the short time I have had this book. This book is truly a work of art. I cannot recommend it enough. Rating: Summary: If 6 Stars * * * * * * Were Possible Review: If you use Flash Actionscript for anything serious, this is THE book to buy. This book covers topics in-serious-depth, that other books only graze, or worse, neglect to cover at all. Not just a collection of "tips and tricks", but more like a comprehensive guide that will allow you to come up with "tips and tricks" all on your own. One of the best programming books I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: clear a space on your desk for this one... Review: Colin Moock has long been providing tips, tricks, advice and general hand-holding to Flash designers around the world. His detailed, thorough and methodical approach to ActionScript is much more than a collection of tidbits - it's an approach to thinking about scripting, to understand how Flash "thinks" and how the ActionScript language is constructed around that. Lucid enough for non-programmers and sophisticated enough for Flash experts, the Definitive Guide is a must-have for anyone who wants to be using Flash to the fullest.
Rating: Summary: Excellent. Excellent. Very thorough! Review: Books by O'Reilly may not seem very readable, but they are indeed. After using them for a while especially this one, you start to see how much good information you can get out of them. I can find better samples on almost any topic here than any other actionscript book out there. I wish they would make a nutshell version. I would recommend this book to programmers who are getting into flash, since you learn the syntax and the power of actionscripting.
Rating: Summary: top notch Review: pretty much the only one which remains on my desk all the time. thanks colin.
