Summary: A book to read, A book to Reference!
Review: I consider flash to be a religion of sorts, and this book is the bible of actionscript! If your looking to completely understand flash on a large scale then buy another book. If your looking to understand a very important and powerful aspect of flash(actionscript/what lingo is to director) buy this book and rest easy about spending your hard earned money on another book about a computer program.
Read it, Reference it, Read it some more, then go to the web site, then read it some more, then reference it some more! Put the time in, use this tool, and the mysteries of actionscript can be all yours!By the way, just a quick plug on the author! I don't know moock personally, but we are in the same line of business. I am amazed at the time he has to respond to emails and make postings on his site for his readers(always up to date, and crystal clear)! His ego, which he should have, seems very in check! Plus the guy just keeps adding examples to his book site well after the book has been released, talk about taking care of ya even after they got your money! Great book, and great Author!

Summary: best choice to learn flash 5 programming
Review: are you interested in learning flash 5 programming? i have read actionscript studio, flash5 bible, but this one is the best. not that the others are bad but this one gives you excellent insight into variables, operators, arrays, XML. (which as a newbie into programming, i had a difficult time to digest until i read this book)

Review: This book not only helped me with actionscript, but it took my javascript programming to another level as well due to the total focus this book has on the concepts involved with programming! This book is so complete, that I would recommend it to ANYONE that will use flash. If you have been confused by javascript, I would recommend this book for learning the basics of scripting, then moving on to the javascript bible. It is that good!

Review: GET THIS BOOK! I am a designer, first and foremost. That is what I love to do! I had very little knowledge of actionScript before I got this book but now I'm able to do some cool stuff. I'm by no means an expert but I know a hell of a lot more now than I did before I got the book. Colin starts from square one with terminology and definitions all the essential actionScript components to get you started which is a key. I can now look at other peoples fla's and have an understanding of what is going on. Before I read this, I was clueless. Buy it now!

Review: Ever get stuck with just stupid movie clips and limited interactivity? Are u a flash designer who has NO prior knowledge of programming? Do you have IDEAS but no idea how to make them happen in flash? well, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! Easy to read, and ALL actionscript! Every go through friends of ed books? Foundation Actionscript? Actionscript Studio? A little too much chit chat and not enough of that hardcore and practical information? GET THIS BOOK! Thorough, clear cut, to the point, and explains EVERYTHING and i do mean EVERYTHING about actionscript. Just read the foreword by the person who MADE actionscript! If Colin Moock (author of this book) could get such a person to write a foreword for his book, that has to say at least SOMETHING about the credibility of all i have said so far. You will NOT be disappointed. NOTE: This book is not for the light of heart, only are u confident that u want to proceed into the vast world of actionscripting should u get this book. Dont get this book if you're just starting out in flash...its for those who have mastered the "visual" side of flash and are now eager to embark on the "interactive" and "dynamic" facades of this wonderful piece of software. I hope you enjoy this book for all its worth. You'll love it with a passion for all the answers it will provide for all the questions you may or ever will have.

Review: As much as I respect Mr Moock and his work I have to say I found this book not very accessable from a designers point of view. I don't claim to be a techie but I wanted to get to grips with and understand actionscript and I knew Colin had a fantastic reputation amongst Flashers so I bought the book. I am sure that sooner or later it will click and I will understand things more but I just wish there where a few more practical examples with step by step tutorials. But like I said I'm a designer not a techie so I suggest you buy this book if you have a good understanding of functions and arrays and such, but if you want a more practical and visual approach to learning actionscript I would recommend Foundation Actionscript. Sorry Colin.

Review: Being a creative person, I am new to ActionScript and programming in general. I have bought other books on this subject and found them to be unclear explaining the concepts of ActionScript. Colin Moock is concise and clear defining the elements of ActionScript in a non-torturous manner. I must speak for all the creative people out there who feel intimidated about programming, this book will teach you the fundamentals of ActionScript very quickly and as far as I'm concerned it is the only book you will ever need. THANK YOU MR. MOOCK!

Review: This book is amazing. If you are looking for seriously in depth coverage of what actionscript can do, or if you are coming with no programming experience (like me) this book is for you. After being frustrated for so long when it comes to flash scripting, I finally can start using flash to its potential. It even helped me with javascript.

Review: This book should come packaged with Macromedia Flash 5. It covers all of the bases, and is written in plain english.
