Summary: Keep Looking -- Don't Buy This Book
Review: I purchased this book before doing enough review of it. Hopefully this review will help you to make a better decision ... and keep looking!

The book was not thorough enough and lacked much needed depth. The author seems to know her stuff, but there were holes in the coverage of material. The book also had numerous spelling and grammatical errors.

I think there are better books out there on Crystal Reports. One that I found and like alot is: Seagate Crystal Reports 8: The Complete Reference, by George Peck.

Summary: Keep Looking
Review: I've now had this book for over 6 months and have yet to find an answer to any question I may have. This book is essentially the Help files in printed form and gives extremely basic information on how to work the GUI. There's no in-depth explanations and any advanced items are covered in about a paragraph.

Very disappointing.

Summary: Advanced section is great
Review: This book covers in depth regarding how to create rpt files and concepts. Useful book for report designers and administrators.

If you are a ASP/VB/C developer developing web reports using crystal reports you may not find detailed technical information. No code samples are given for ASP/VB/C developers.

However, this book is a good reference for anyone wants to know about crystal reports.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Very basic, so this book should be in the For dummies series
Review: This book is intended for someone new to computer science. For example the book spend many pages explaining what is a database, what is a DSN (Data Source) and how to configure it in Windows...

Keep looking please!
