Summary: Great Intro.
Review: I have read an earlier edition of this book. I have to say it is the best intro to C I have ever read. None of the campy "For Dummies"-ish stuff. Just clear, concise, easy to read and understand descriptions.

Tony Zhang is an amazing writer when it comes to making programming concepts accessible.

Summary: Get started fast.
Review: I needed to learn enough C in an afternoon to grab data from a text file, modify it, and write it out to a new file. The examples and explanations were more than adequate to get the task done quickly. It is written in a format simple enough for first time programmers and introduces concepts quickly with efficient organization to keep those with prior programming experience motivated. One of the best programming books I have ever used.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: How "not" to learn anything.
Review: I suppose I might have learned more from this book had the programming examples been compatible with the compiler included on the cd in the book. However, since none of Zhang's examples would execute with the Borland Compiler version included I can not give this book an unbiased rating.

Summary: where's the #@$%&* appendix?
Review: I'd give it zero stars if I could. At the end of each chapter it says the answers to the quiz questions and exercises are in Appendix E. Well, where in carnation is Appendix E!?!?!?!? I'd love to see if I'm learning this stuff and check my answers. If you can't put all the content in the book, then what's the use????

Summary: Tricky title, but good book
Review: I'm learning C programming by reading Tony's book. And I found the book is not bad at all. In fact, the book starts with some easy materials, and step by step, leads the reader to relatively deep area in C. Of course, the title of the book is a little bit tricky. Don't expect you can learn C in 24 hours. Also, you need to have an ANSI C compliant compiler to compile those sample programs in the book. The enclosed Borland TC compiler is an old version that is not 100% ANSI C compliant. To be fair, I think the book is a clearly-written, well-organized book for a serious beginner.

Summary: Not Bad at all
Review: Im just learning how to do C programming. This book came in a Sams Publishing Box called learn C and C++ the easy way.So i think the book is great with only a few problems.1st- all the lessons are done with math problems?.2nd i wish the book went just a little bit more in depth on certain things at the beggining of each new lessons. But over all the Book is Great!! ive learned more from this book than i have 2 other books put together and im only on lesson 7.

Summary: A Well-Written Book
Review: It is a well-written book about the standard C (i.e., ANSI C.) The basic concepts and standard C functions are clearly covered in the 24 chapters of the book. I teach C/C++ and Java at school. This book has been selected into the reference book list to my students who normally learn C first, and then move to C++, Java, or Windows development with some specific software tools. It is true that learning C is harder than learning Basic. But the sample programs and exercises enclosed in the book help the reader to come up the learning-curve quickly. As for compilers, I personally like Visual C++. (Don't be fooled by the name of "Visual C++". These days, most commercial C compilers are bundled into C++ compiler packages, such as Visual C++, and Borland C++.)

Summary: Worthless CD-ROM & Sloppy Contents
Review: It's one of the worst C/C++ books I have ever read. The CD-ROM pratically doesn't have anything. The author mainly concentrates on the libarbary of <iostrea.h> which is very unpopular. An very bad chapter on Pointers and Array Sizes. No explanation what's ever on Windows Development and it's published in 1997 and its compiler is one of the worst!!!! TRUST ME, YOU DON'T WANA THE BOOK!!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: An "unfriendly" book
Review: My first point is that C takes a lot more time to learn than 24 hours. My second point is that in the book, when it's explaining say how to do a algorithm etc, it only describes the basics and leaves out the much needed in-depth stuff. I don't recommend this book.
