Rating: Summary: funny drawings Review: Hi all, very nice book. i've been waiting for this awhile. this book is a must for flash enthusiasts. i saw sandro speak in santa monica about two years ago. -very entertaining stuff!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I agree with that reviewer from Nashville. This book was quite disappointing. I thought i'd learn in detail how to create animation in Flash. DID NOT HAPPEN. I bought an animation book along with this one as a supplement sort of. Now I'm glad I bought the extra book, so I don't feel like my purchase and weeks of waiting were totally in vain.
Rating: Summary: The BEST! Review: I am a complete flash animation junky! This book is by far the best book on the market for anyone interested in flash or even good old fashioned animation for that matter! I found the artwork simply hilarious and the format in which the author wrote easy to understand. I agree with the previous reviewers assumptions. The book's goal is to teach about animation first, and its application to flash, second. Rather than get overly complex with the physics motion, the book often comes up with simple anologies and clearly illustrated examples of a principle.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Review: I bought this book based on reviews I found here on Amazon. I expected to receive a relatively complete guide to creating animations in Flash, but I was disappointed with what I received. While unique, this book does not go into either Flash or animation very deeply. It is more a compilation of various tips and techniques than anything, and I found that much of the information in the book covers material that I already have from either animation books or Flash-related books. Certainly, the book is interesting reading material, and I'm sure that the book is useful to many others, but it appears to be geared towards those who know how to animate well and who also know how to use Flash well, but who don't know how to integrate the two. If you fit that description, you'll probably like this book.
Rating: Summary: SIGGRAPH 2002 Review: I had the distinct pleasure of attending this author's presentation at SIGGRAPH in San Antonio. Not only was he one the most entertaining speakers, his presentation on digital animation was stunning. I went right down the bookstore at the convention and bought his book. It was a great read for the trip home. I found it visually inspiring and really well thought out. Although, I dont know flash (but I want to now!) I thought the book's breakdown of animation principles was great. I found myself looking around the airport terminal observing the manner in which people moved to test these principles. This book was right on the money. Thanks to The Flash Animator for a great show in San Antonio!
Rating: Summary: Elegant and useful. Review: I have read several other introductions to Flash cartooning. In this area, unfortunately, many books are written on dubious pretences -- by authors who have never been professional animators, or by authors who have a poor grasp of the strengths and weaknesses of Flash. The books by Mark Clarkson and Ibis Fernandez are both weak in this regard, and offer little inspiration. Sandro Corsaro is a real animator with both the education and the job experience to offer sound advice. His own work is highly professional (and exemplary.) This book contains both useful practical tips and valuable discussions of the general topic. There are also interviews with some of the most influential animators. I am finding this book a real source of ideas, and that is what I shelled out my hard earned $$$ for! Highly recommended.

Rating: Summary: * * * * Review: I must say I was extremely impressed by the quality of this book. Unlike other the other flash books on the market, the book used pictures to explain the teachings. The illustrations are very vivid and colorful. For a traditional animator, the concepts discussed may be a bit simple, but their applications into flash were quite unique. I did learn a number of new flash concepts and techniques. The author, handled the lessons well, at times a bit more explaination of flash would have been nice.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I must say, I was hesistant at first when I heard about this book. I figured it was going to be similar to the awful Flash Cartooning Book from last year. Upon opening it, I realized I was wrong. This is not your typical flash book. The structure of the book is very unique, I didnt feel like I was reading some technical manuscript. The author's tone was very light and easy to understand. I have been using Flash for some time now. After reading the first three chapters, I found myself going back to my old projects and trying these techniques. Chapter 4 was particularly insightful, especially how the author explains the concept of reusing animation was terrific. The idea of reusing not only "parts" but the actual "motion" was a whole new concept for me. And I must say, the "Stella" file on the CD was an impressive demonstration the chapter's title..."reusing and recycling". -The artwork and interviews, absolutely hilarious and insightful.
Rating: Summary: Yeah, I helped write it, but I love this book! Review: I only contributed to one of the more technical chapters in the book, but once I received my free copy (lucky me) I realized that the rest of the book would be very good for me. My Flash work is mostly focused on database connectivity and programming, so Sandro's animating book has taught me a lot about making nice animations that can bounce and feel crisp and clean. I really do love this book! And I do not get royalties, so you know I'm telling the truth.
