Rating: Summary: Out of date Review: Unfortunatly, technology changes faster than publishing -- wait for the next edition if you must. The lastest as of date is June 1999. You would be better off looking at palm.com or tucows.com for additional applications since this manual is basically a pile of shareware reviews (all programs can be found on the acompanying CD -- big deal.) Stick to the Web if you want to really exploit the possibilities of Palm computing.

Rating: Summary: Dated but useful Review: Well it is time for a third edition (with an updated OS description). I bought this book for a "Mastering the Palm" class at the University of Texas at Arlington. The class was great. We used the book as more of a placeholder to be sure everything was covered. Some people had older Palms and the book matched. I was helped greatly as I was coming from ground zero and the only book that read previously was a "how to install". The CD ROM and web site information took us beyond the scope of the book. One real advantage of the book is it encourages you to learn what you have. Then when you need that function you are already aware of its presence.
Rating: Summary: Great for the newbie Piloteer Review: Wonderful book for the new PalmPilot owner. Contains tips, tricks and traps as well overviews of the operation of the PalmPilot and its built-in applications. And it doubles as a reference book once you've gotten used to the Pilot-- something I've come to expect from O'Reilly & Associates. A little more up-to-date than Calvin O. Parker's "The Complete PalmPilot Guide" but not much. If you cannot spend the time to surf the 'net, read the Pilot FAQs, this is a must-have book for the Pilot newbie.
