Summary: Indispensable!
Review: The Palm is really easy to use, and the docs included with it definitely help you get started.

However if you want to be a power user, this is absolutely the book for you. It's full of the cogent and intelligent, non-condescending discussions which make O'Reilly books especially successful, and is loaded with data not just about making your Palm a successful mobile computing device, but also trivia and history regarding the machines.

Each chapter has an "executive summary" at the end too -- despite the glib title those summaries cover, quickly and adequately, the contents of the chapter to which they pertain, which makes skimming considerably faster.

This is a superb piece of documentation on working with a Palm -- any one of them -- and the 3000+ programs included on the book's CD don't hurt too bad either.

Summary: This book just saved me hours of re-entering data!
Review: The software CD that comes with the book is great! That's why I bought it. But once you start reading it...your realize the real value is the INFORMATION in the book. There is more in the first 3 chapters than in the entire user's guide that came with your Palm. I really feel like I'm getting the most out of my purchase. My Palm V froze up. I was about to do a "hard reset", erasing everything, but checked this book first. Sure enough, it contained a trick that saved me hours or re-entering games, hacks, freeware and other data.(The semisoft reset is not mentioned in the factory Palm Manual!) This book is well written, friendly, entertaining, and at 600 pages it's thorough. Get it!

Summary: Wonderful For New Users!!
Review: This book covers many New users questions, and a little bit of info for Power Users. I wouldn't completley recomend it for Power Users, though it's a good Refrence.

Summary: The Ultimate Guide...a brilliant start!
Review: This book provided me with a great deal of insight into just how the Palm operates and how I can use it to do what I need it to do. I found it helpful in the areas of importing/exporting graphics; what models are expandable and which are not. I knew a lot of this info. from just have the Palm handheld, but there were many particulars I knew nothing of that the book helped me understand. I recommend it for those who just got their Palm handheld or those who desire a more intimate knowledge of. Sadly, I don't use the CD-ROM as much as I could but the disc is organized well with an easily understood navigation system.

Summary: Great book for new user, manual tell zero by comparison
Review: This book was great for me as a new Palm user. It is hard to imagine getting as much use and enjoyment out of my Palm III if I had not read this book. The manual tells you almos zero by comparison. The tips and tricks are worth the price even for the experienced user. The software disk provides enough free and shareware to get you well started on appreciating how much that capability adds to the Palm Pilot. I was surprised at how current the material was relative to the Palm III that had only been out for a few months when I got mine.

Summary: An Easy to Read and Easy to Understand Guide
Review: This book was written with the end user in mind. Included are already unzipped, ready to install Pilot applications (.prc's) on one CD-ROM. Everyone will find something they like in this book. David has a wonderful way of presenting data in an easy to understand format.

Summary: Excellent book, well organized and documented!
Review: This is one of the best written and organized books I have read. It comes with a CD ROM, but even more important it has countless weblinks for additonal programs as well as tips and items not document in the owners manual.

Use the pilot to surf the web, send and receive faxes, etc.

It is a must read!

Summary: Great, But a Little Dated
Review: This was great Palm when it was new. It's clear, complete the author knows the Palm and it's and not oversimplified. Even now I would recommend this as the place to start for those who are not technophobes. But the book is over two years old. There's lots of new software out like Wordsmith which gives you real fonts and the ability to save in .rtf, and peripherals like those folding keyboards.
