Summary: Sam Halabi's Design Guide Brought Up to Date !
Review: A well laid out book that takes the reader through OSPF. This book is not the "definative" OSPF guide, as the book is not detailed enough to warrant this recognision. It does not address some of the "querky" OSPF design issues. The book focuses on Sam Halabi's Design Guide that is still the most informative document produced on OSPF configuration guidelines. The author acknowledges this and adds some "value added" with the latest Cisco features. Although the book is a hefty 800 pages, the technical content does not justify this. As a text book goes, and not free reference material, this may in fact be the best OSPF book on the market. This reflects the quality and quantity of reference material available for this subject !

Summary: Save your Money and just download the Halabi design guide !!
Review: After reading this book i was very disapointed in the lack of technical information on the protocol. I was hoping for an indepth discussion on the packet formats and information on some of the less documented design issues with OSPF networks. If you are serious about learning this protocol then the RFC, Halabis guide, and Jeff Doyles Routing TCP/IP V1, are the only sources of information that hit the spot. To sum up : This book might have a place for mangement that would like a high level view of the protocol, but CCIE's or students studying towards CCIE will find this book very disapointing.

Summary: Awesome highly recommended - 10 stars
Review: Best book on the market for OSPF no doubt about it. This book is real quality 10 stars for me, is starts from the basics of OSPF to really advanced topics. The topics are really well organised and is a great guide for the novice and even the expert will find material here of great value, its a book that should be on anyone's shelf and for those implementing and designing OSPF, the book has quality examples and is written by someone who really has a sound grasp of OSPF and how it should be designed and implemented into any IP network. Highly recommneded guide for anyone routing IP

Summary: No Editing was done on this book!
Review: Cisco never has an editor for any of its books. There is no way ther was a proofreader for this text. There is a typo, contradiction, or grammar error every few pages. Other than that, the book is pretty comprehensive. It covers both theory and applications.

Summary: OSPF .... for DUMMIES !!
Review: For DUMMIES....well not exactly. This book is a practical guide to OSPF from Cisco's point of view. If only work with Cisco routers then this book with be worth its weight in gold. If you are looking for a universal overview you might want to check John Moy's book. PEACE !!

Review: Full content of book is dedicated to explaining OSPF from design to troubleshooting. I found this a good source for preparing for the CCIE Written Examination. Also recommend Routing TCP/IP, author: Jeff Doyle, for the truly dedicated IP professionals looking beyond passing tests "Internetworking TCP/IP" author: Douglas Comer

Review: I also have just reveived this book and I cannot say how good this book is. Other routing protocols are also described to complete the book. Best ospf book around and better than the documentation than the Cisco CD contains.
