Rating: Summary: This is an excellent primer on organic modeling. Review: I found this book to be very well-written. The tutorials provide a thorough overview of the modeling tools available in Truespace. I was pleased to find a book that featured tutorials on modeling interesting characters for a change.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! A must have for anyone in computer graphics! Review: I loved it, it makes Truspace much more user friendly. I was playing with Truspace for hours after I got it. The format is really handy, its a step by step guide and it's also easy to flip through and find what you're looking for. It's well illustrated with examples and there are some beautiful full color pages of example creatures. It covers all the advanced functions and topics that are hard to pick up on your own, and the CD and illustrations help immensly when building your own objects. I think my favorite is the "tips and tricks" section that gives creative ideas and suggestions, like how to make a cat's tail slide back and forth realistically and how to design animatable mouths. It's a first class guide to building and animating people, pets and creatures. I whole heartedly recommend it for anyone interested in computer graphics or animation, and especially anyone who uses or is thinking of using Truspace.
Rating: Summary: These guys know what they're doing! Review: Listen up skeptics! The authors of this book (Darris and Bill) know what they're doing when it comes to creature creating! Everything from sketching, to modelling, to surfacing, to animating...the whole nine yards. The tutorials in this book are as far from "Mickey Mouse" as you can get. Quite simply put, this is the BEST, most HELPFUL book/tutorial I've ever read in my life. There are lots of diagrams that show you what your object(s) should look like along the way which makes this book 100% better! BUY THIS BOOK NOW!! I created my first creature in about three days.

Rating: Summary: A good book and well written but Review: The tutorials and examples are nothing to write home about. Anyone experimenting with trueSpace can create the same characters in a few days. It's still a good book but it doesn't really cover high end type work. Ok for a beginner.
Rating: Summary: Finally some serious tutorials. Review: When I saw the cover of this book I was stoked. I was beginning to think I was the only one who used Truespace for character modeling. This is one serious book on creature modeling and animating. It isn't full of the usual lame tutorials that show you how to make a stick man walk or building some stupid puppet head or anything else you already know how to do. These guys really push Truespace to the limit and do stuff with it I never thought of.Even if you dont use Truespace. If you want to create some seriously creepy creatures you need this book. It is definitely worth it's price.
