Summary: Harry will put you on the right track
Review: After months of searching through whitepapers and the MS website for information on SBS 4.5, I was in a bit of a panic as the installation date was drawing near. Then I found Harry's book - what a relief! Written in plain old english, this book guided me through the entire installation and gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to both install and administer the system. I would recommend that anyone about to tackle an SBS installation - don't do anything until you purchase this book.

Summary: Well I never knew that
Review: I had already bought two other books about the SBS server, 'Building profitable solutions with Microsoft Small Business Backoffice Solutions Server 4.5' and 'Microsoft Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5 Rescource Kit' I found nether of these covered the things I wanted. I wanted a nuts and bolts approach to installing the SBS from scratch in a non techie speak. This book fulfills this. It covers step by step exactly what to do and also cover pitfalls and considerations on the way. The book is also well structured and easy to dip into certain sections without having to do lots of cross reference reading.

Summary: Great book for new SBSers!
Review: I'm working on my first SBS installation, and Harry's book is the best of any I've seen on the subject. It's easy to read and understand, and it's given me the confidence to dive right in! I highly recommend it.

Summary: Get the basics and get them right
Review: I've been reading the book in order to find out wheter SBS suited the need of my company. I must say that Harry Brelford understands how to communicate hardcore SBS knowledge to a novice like me. The book covers SBS 4.5 going through the different features in a manner, that gives good basic knowledge how to implement SBS 4.5. A very readable book, written with the touch of humor that keeps you reading instead of falling asleep. Good job.

Summary: Welcome!
Review: It is with great pleasure that I've written this SBS 4.5 book for you. SBS has become a cult; it's a huge part of my life that I wanted to share with you. And when I went out to find good books on SBS, there simply weren't many (if any). Hopefully my effort has changed that. You'll spend 21-days creating an imaginary company's SBS network (Springer Spaniels Unlimited). I've made the steps bullet proof, so the idea is, spend three weeks building an SBS network for Springer Spaniels Unlimited, then build it for your own company. And of course I've added lessons learned, tips and tricks every step of the way...all garned from the SBS trenches.

Summary: Very informative and long awaited...
Review: Many of the things in your book, I've already experienced and learned about the hard way. However, your book really offers a lot of insight into the more advanced subjects. I've been happy with SBS, but after reading just half your book, I'm even more excited about the product!

Summary: What the SBS owner (or consultant) really needs
Review: Microsoft Small Business Server is a product that is easy to install and maintain. If you know what you're doing, that is. Most small businesses do not have dedicated technical people to administer their systems, and most consultants do not understand this product or the small business environment. Harry Brelsford understands, and has written the perfect book for both the SBS owner and the consultant who wants to work with small businesses. In the 21-day format, Harry breaks each day into (of course) morning and afternoon sessions. Morning sessions cover the basics; afternoons cover more advanced topics (like what consultants are supposed to know). Along the way he gives tips and tricks that come from experience, as well as a smile or two. Not to mention the lunches - guest speakers and even a couple of good recipes. All in all, a must-have for all those working with Small Business Server 4.5.

Summary: Good Book with a poor CD ROM
Review: The author clearly knows how to pass his knowledge in a clear and concise way. The chapters on exhange and remote access service are the stand out of the book. Proxy and IIS are the low note of the book (too rushed out, when specially proxy server can be a nightmare to troubleshoot).

It's also very frustrating when you are following examples and the software is simply not in the cd rom. This was the case with great plain dynamics application which was missing fom my cd rom!

Anyway, i am in no way removing credits from the author. Well done, am i am looking forward for sbs 5.0

Summary: Covers the SBS console, but no depth of information
Review: The author has great enthusiasm for the product which comes across in the book. It demonstrates the basic methods for installing SBS via the console but lacks any depth or explanation of what is actually occurring. Some guidelines and pitfalls on what may happen if you install/configure the system the 'standard' way would be most useful. Obviously with so many large applications in the system it is impossible to cover everything but I cannot say I really learnt the product in 21 days, but rather have an idea of it's potential.
