Review: As a long time user of the Linux operating system, I have often felt that there was a lack of books on administering Linux systems in a large networked environment. In this book, I try to address that need. With the help of several contributing authors, each of which brings a wealth of UNIX and Linux experience to the table, I have attempted in this book to address the issues that might arise when implementing Linux in a corporate environment. This book picks up where most other Linux books leave off, covering the issues related to running Linux in a business setting as opposed to in your home. It won't tell you how to set up your desktop or how to tweak your shell environment, but if you are looking for a book that covers topics like RAID, filesystem management, network services and interoperating with other network operating systems, then I invite you to take a look at this book.

Review: If you are looking for a book to bridge the gap between a beginner at linux and an admin this the the book to buy. And that is precisely the problem. This book assumes a fair amount of knowledge about linux. if you do have this level of knowledge, this book will bring you up to the level of a beginner admin, at which point you will have to go out and buy books on topics like Apache, Networking and so on. If however, you are prepared to read through some 1000 pages, and then an armful of other books, HOWTOs and man pages you will not be disappointed.
