Summary: A control-theoretic analysis of switched systems.
Review: Switched systems, that is, systems that can switch between several modes of operation, are ubiquitous in the world around us. One example is our car - its dynamical behavior changes according to the gear shift position.

Dr. Liberzon's book provides a control-theoretic study of such systems. The presentation includes three parts: an introduction, stability analysis of switched systems, and the design of switched controllers.

The topic is discussed in a very broad perspective. The links with many important topics in control and stability theory (e.g., the absolute stability problem, Brockett's condition for the existence of continuous controllers, and Lie-algebric concepts) are addressed.

The material is up-to-date (the bibliography includes more than 300 references) and, most importantly, extremely readable. All and all, I think that this book should serve as the fundamental reference to the field.
