Summary: This book is a life saver...
Review: I program in C and C++ quite a lot, but there are still
quite a few functions which I don't have the parameters
memorized for, and this book tells me what I need and
nothing more. If you are a beginner you might want to
find another book, but if you are a relatively
experienced programmer this is a good book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Short, concise, USEFULL!
Review: I program in serveral languages, and remembering syntax and function calls for all of them is a real pain. This book makes switching back to c/c++ a snap. Not an in depth 'tutorial' type manual, this book makes an excellent desktop reference.

Summary: Terrible!
Review: I wrote a bad review of this book 2 years ago, and can not find it here... it is one of the WORST reference books I have seen. I ended up selling mine as "used" here on Amazon! The glowing reviews must be from spam-reviewers or students/people who just don't use C++ except as a better C. C++ it large and complex, and only a fraction of it is covered in this "reference". Today I found "C++ In a Nutshell" which is finally the real C++ Reference. Ignore all others. (I do like Shildt's Java books, this is bad editing, formatting, or a half-hearted effort.)

Summary: Easy to understand
Review: If you are new to C or C++ , this author is very good in explaining the language in a simple and plain english

Summary: Do you C?
Review: If you do any C/C++ coding, then you need this awesome little packed book next to you. It's perfect when your brain is running low on caffeine and you forget that function your looking for...programmers take it with your laptop wherever you go!

Summary: Excellent compact reference
Review: It's true that a book of this size has no chance of containing all possible information about the functions it features. You probably won't learn to use the functions herein described with this book. What it does set out to do, it does very well. I use this book nearly every day as a syntactical reference. It contains prototypes along with brief descriptions of functionality and extensive cross references. It is perfect for those functions you use just infrequently enough to remember the exact order of parameters. The organization is easy to use.C and C++ standard input/output and other standard functions are included. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Perfect for what it is!
Review: The best reference I've found anywhere, I have two copies, one at home and one at work and they're worth their weight in gold. I have literally shelves of c and c++ books and this one is used more than all the rest combined. I hate digging through web pages or huge tomes trying to find a simple ansi c function that I know exists but just can't quite remember, and that is where this book steps in.

Summary: Indispensable C++ & STL reference
Review: This book has been a valuable reference for myself and my collegues. I also have "STL from the ground up" but find that 99% of the time I turn to "C/C++ Programmers's Reference" as a STL reference.
