Rating: Summary: A Must Read for Access Developer! Review: In brief conclusion, this book is a natural step up from Beginning Visual Basic 6 Programming (Also from Wrox). Most of the codes provided by the book is reusable through variuous data analysis and data management projects. The Chapter 14 regarding "Data Mining" is more than the worth its price.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book explains things in an unstandable way not in some abstract "I trying to prove how smart I am way" like alot of these books. Concepts are presented in a way that makes that light in your head go on and say "oh yeah", that makes sense. As far as the reviews complaining it is to this or that perhaps they should have read THE TITLE a little more closely. Beginning..
Rating: Summary: A brilliant book! Review: As an introduction to Visual Basic, or as an introduction to Relational Databases, but especially as an introduction to how the two work together, this book is superb! Serves as a better intro to VB6 than most introductory books on the market, while at the same time tackling an essential subject thoroughly and clearly. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn more about this subject, or to anyone simply wanting to learn Visual Basic. A great buy!
Rating: Summary: This is a Must Read Review: If you are at all developing database apps using VB - either stand alone, networked, or over W3, this is simply a must read. Take a look at it and make your own decision! This book has helped me with certification prep.
Rating: Summary: This book is excellent! Review: This book is excellent. I have had great luck with WROX books. This book is organized and thorough with truly useful VB6 examples and techniques. I needed a book exactly like this one to get the VB programming database concepts. I have been programming for several years Using PeopleSoft, and really wanted to learn VB. This book explains ADO and even the older DAO with great analogies and examples, I also found the chapter on ASP's to be great. This book is a great prep. for the McSD.
Rating: Summary: Professional Developer - Management Review: You know, after the first 10 pages or so, it becomes clear that Mr. Connell is not only a profesisonal software engineer, but a first rate teacher. Wrox - please convince Mr Connell to write another book soon. I regularly check amazon for any new titles from Mr. Connell
Rating: Summary: My most valuable source of knowledge on the topic Review: I bought the above book through Amazon.com after a 3 week research effort to find the best book on this subject. I received it yesterday after a 9 week delivery period. But what a pleasant surprise! Congratulations with an excellent book. I haven't seen such a unselfish flood of knowledge in a book in my life. I couldn't put it down since I started to investigate it. Microsoft should officially recommend it to all their VB6 clients.
Rating: Summary: every page worth its money Review: i'm jus a intermediate C programmer & hv little knowledge in database programming but with this book,i can build a small corporation database frontend with VB & make my money! it is great!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This is absolutely the best VB book (on database or any facet of programming) I ever read. Bar none. Period. full stop. I read these reviews and totally agree with all the positive comments. This is a gem that stands way above the rest.
Rating: Summary: Grad Student Review: I don't know what all these positive reviews are about. I found this book to ba an absolute nightmare. The directions are cluttered, code instructions are scattered, and there are no consolidated code pages so you have to keep leafing back and forth when you make an error. This is no beginner's book despite what these other reviews say. For a good beginner book buy VB Step by Step by Halvorson.
