Rating: Summary: Unbeatable Value Review: This is a great book for Visual Basic. Most of the long winding tales and never ending not-so-funny jokes found in a lot of new computer books (inspired by Dos for Dummies) are missing from this tome. Buy it, you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: Looking for a Reference Book on VB 6? Review: This is one of those book that likes to hang around your desk (like your cat) while you programming. It makes quite a good reference book on VB 6, and it doesn't cost you an arm and and a leg either. For the content of this book, I give it 4 stars. But consider the price in which it is selling for, it deserves one more star.
Rating: Summary: it sucked Review: Well this book was a total rip off i had been taking a VB class at my high school (9th grade) and thought that this book would help me advance because in the class the teacher was just making us do some dumb applications that served no purpose and i couldn't contain myself to create advanced programs on my own that could connect through IP and by port to another computer. So i was low on money and the lady at the store told me this book was very good and that many people bought it and that it was better than the teach yourself VB in 21 days, i had to buy fast because they were closing and so i just took it when i saw it at home it was a total ripp off it doesnt teach u anything and goes as far as showing you how use some of the controls which is fairly easy, the rest of it is just good for reference like when u forget a command line and cant remember what it is. I would not recommend this book to anyone because even to the newbie at VB it will be totaly confusing and unuseful and u wouldnt even need it for reference on commands because u can look up the commands on VB, i guess u get what u pay for, this book is worthless and a total waste of money go buy something more expensive that teaches at ur knowledge level rather then just put what each thing does without any code excercises or anything that can make u think of how u can use this like this book does.....[...]
Rating: Summary: BETTER THAN MOST OF THE $50 BOOKS! Review: You can't go wrong with this book. For just $20 bucks you get more useful information than most of the $50 megabooks deliver. This book is a great reference that I use frequently because I can usually find the information that I need without having to decipher a page full of technobabble. The authors present Visual Basic in Plain English! Hats off to the authors and the publisher for a job well done. You'll get your moneys worth and much more. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
