Rating: Summary: Good source for advanced development Review: This book is an excellent choice for the experienced VB developer that is interested in true RAD development, and in utilizing some of the latest hot technologies. This is an Intermediate-Advanced user level book. It is not an introduction to VB; as such it assumes the reader knows how to program in Visual Basic. Not only does it introduce and describe how to utilize the rich features of the 6.0 development environment, it also introduces and describes how to incorporate hot technologies, such as TAPI, SAPI, MAPI, ADO, Socket programming, ActiveX servers and controls, Win API, DHTML, help systems, and more, into your VB projects using VB 6.0. I found this book to be an invaluable addition to my collection, and refer to it often. The author was easily reached and happy to talk when I had an applications question.
Rating: Summary: A good book covering the new features available in VB 6. Review: This book is not aimed at beginners to Visual Basic. It is aimed at those who are already familiar with Visual Basic 5, and want to find out what's new in VB 6. A useful read.
Rating: Summary: Visual Basic 6 Unleashed Professional Reference Edition Review: This is a great book that has taught me a lot, but I would like it to focus on a specific topic, and for over 1000 pages you would think there would be enough room to do so. But there is a lot of topics to talk about. They do have source code included in this book, but I would want just a little bit more. Overall I think this is a really great book for Intermediate/Advanced Visual Basic programmers, no newbies...

Rating: Summary: Finally - a Book that offers help on "HELP" Review: This is most certainly NOT a beginner's book, but certainly worth the price as a desk top reference for the VB developer. This was the only book I found that offers step by step instructions on how to create and display an on-line Help System.
Rating: Summary: Class Modules Review: This is my favorite book on Visual Basic 6. The "Unleashed" series is great. This book contains a great deal of information not available elsewhere and is written in an accessable style and comes in a very nice hardcover edition, most appreciated on these tombs. My criticism is the coverage of class modules which are a central element of VB. For example, take the topic of class instancing. This is a core concept in VB, as we all know. Yet its not discussed that I can find or referenced in the index. Chapter 11 covers "Creating and Using Class Modules" but it's an abstract discussion of planning. This is a significant oversight in a book that is held out as a "reference" work.

Rating: Summary: An Excellent Choice for the Experienced Programmer Review: This is perhaps the ultimate reference tool for an experienced programmer who wishes to push Visual Basic to its limits. The book is carefully laid out, well indexed, and quite detailed. I highly recommend it.
