Rating: Summary: Excellent Cold Fusion Guide and Resource Review: I would, without question, recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about Cold Fusion or needs to have a very handy, quick reference for their Cold Fusion developing. This book takes you from installation, to planning and development. It walks you through the code to each exercise and explains each line.
Rating: Summary: Good coverage of web db and coldfusion Review: I used this book to get a general overview of coldfusion technology and found it did that and more. The book is well organized for both general reading and as a reference. It is very comprehensive and contains beefy examples to serve a developer working on a state-of-art data driven web application.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Resource Book Review: Although there are a few typos and mismatched screencaps in the book, all in all it is well worth the price if you're getting started in ColdFusion. The author leads you into it gradually but not dragging it out too long. It's nice to have the sections on database mgt and normalization (esp. Access vs SQL Server). A nice touch that helps too.
Rating: Summary: Cold Fusion Rocks Review: Working at an ASP shop I am consider the villain for even thinking about Cold Fusion. Less than 4 weeks weeks ago I was strictly HTML, graphics and some hacked javascripts. I heard about Cold Fusion for years, so when I decided to try my hand at it I learned my way around Access and read "A Visual Introduction to SQL" also found on Amazon. Then I bought this book. Let me just say that in 2 days I made a publishing system complete with an image library. The ASP developers around me can not front about how quickly I picked up Cold Fusion and how small the code is compared to ASP. This is really the only book on Cold Fusion you can get but I found it very well written.
Rating: Summary: Excellent tutorial Review: Excellent tutorial not only in Cold Fusion, but also SQL, and databases. Totally suprised me how much I learned from reading this one book.
Rating: Summary: Web Database Interactions Made Easy Review: After spending FIVE DAYS reading this book, and only making it about half way through the chapters, I was able to start creating very complicated web applications for my company's intranet. This book very well explains everything there is to know about web database interaction using Cold Fusion. CFML is like HTML of steroids!
Rating: Summary: Excellent reference guide and startup as well Review: Easy to use, full of great examples and basically everything you need to know about getting applications together in a hurry!
Rating: Summary: excellent self learning Review: THis is probably the best book one can find in the marke
Rating: Summary: Good book with practical examples and logically built up Review: I just started as a coldfusion consultant at i-concept in Rotterdam and ordered this book in my trial period. It is a very good book although the images do not always match the text. Updating, deleting, and adding are very nice explained. I still feel i need more examples however, especially on updating, deleting, adding and conditional forms. Please send me if you have anything to djd@i-concept.nl
Rating: Summary: Great book, but needed a little more varied situations Review: I was pleased with this book, It taught me the program well. The refrence guide at the end works great. But the pictures and information don't match up all the time, and the book dosen't touch on some of the problems that you are bound to run into. It could have also touched on more real world situations besides the A2Z bookstore company. (Which I was sick and tired of hearing about by the end of the guide) Besides that, its one of the best out there. I would suggest this book for anybody who wants to teach themselves how to make data-driven webpages.
