Rating: Summary: Only 2 and this the far the best Review: I want to ask what is the error correction page? Please post it on the QUE web. We must have to it to solve the problem. Unlike ASP which got tones of books. Cold Fusion only got Mastering ColdFusion and Dummies one, what else the resources can we got? THis isn't only the best, but 1 out 3 books on the market (except the Advance one). It, basically, left you no choice but this this one.
Rating: Summary: best book on coldfusion Review: This is the best ColdFusion book on the market. There are some typos and minor problems but none that so bad that you can't use the book (I disagree stringly with some of the comments below mine). Plus, when I e-mailed Ben with questions he responded quickly and welcomed reports of any errors I found. He also has an online list of errors on his web site. This book is brilliant, best way to learn ColdFusion.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Great Review: Wow! I love this book. It really taught me the fundamentals of how the internet works, and how intensively powerful ColdFusion can be.I feel that I learned real solid information from this book. Its very practical, and affordable. My advice: "just buy it". *However, PHP is far better, cheaper, and faster, plus I loathe windows.
Rating: Summary: Decent but overrated Review: I am new to cold fusion and found this book incomplete. For example, the interaction/linking of IIS and CF is not explained in any detail. It assumes everything installs out-of-the-box and every PC has the same configuration as the authors'. If you are new to CF buy this book along with the 'Dummies" book and you should be in good shape. Use the Dummies book for the installation and setup and some straight forward examples. This book builds on the Dummies examples. However, this book alone may cause you undue frustration - lots of typos and weak explainations. How about the 4 pages on using Seagate Crystal Reports with CF - why even mention it! (Why does he make you build the database? The book has a CD - just include one as an MS Access file. Duh! )
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: This is a great book for Web Developers Just buy the book and find out how easily you can become a proffessional Cold-fusion developer,we did know any thing about CF and now our team can integrate CF applications easily and fast.
Rating: Summary: Another Computer Wiz trying to write a book Review: On page 935, for a definition of the "Evaluate" function, Mr. Forta writes "Evaluate is used to evaluate string expressions. Evaluate takes one or more string expressions as parameters and evaluates them left to right. The following example evaluates the variable "A" : #Evaluate("A")#." Gee, Thanks for clearing that up.
Rating: Summary: READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU BUY Review: I have gone through this book cover to cover and attempted to do every single excersise in the book. There is no question that the first 300 pages are good.....too bad that book is 700+ pages. At about Chapter 14 the books examples simply start to go completely downhill. The final damage starts at Chapter 19 where all of Ben's examples simply don't function, there are CONSTANT typos, and the excersises in the book start using tables and data that was never created nor entered. *IF* you even attempt to do many of the excersises in this book, you'll find yourself pulling your hair out, because the data simply does not exist to make his own labs work...worse yet, I pulled his own database with his own examples and tried to make them work and it's QUITE OBVIOUS that the editor of this book didn't take the time to debug it. I plan to contact the publisher and let them know that this book severely needs to be revised!
Rating: Summary: very good, very readable, very usable Review: Awesome value, examples build up and actually work - OK I didn;t try them all, yet.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for those wanting to learn ColdFusion Review: Within one day of reading the book, I learned basic SQL statements, relational database design, and integrating it into a web environment. Well read, this book is a MUST for anyone wanting to learn about programming ColdFusion! A++++
Rating: Summary: end all be all of cf books Review: This book is where to turn for CF beginners and experienced developers looking for a refresher on that function you want to use! A bit heavy but worth the haul!
