Rating: Summary: Ben Forta putdoes himself again. Review: I have been using Cold Fusion since version 2 and I still am amazed at how much I have to learn. This book covers so much and the accompanying code is great. I reccommend this for novices and advanced users alike.
Rating: Summary: Frustrating, poorly written, waste of money Review: I really resent the apparent laziness with which this book was written. It's riddled with typos and screenshots that don't match the text. To make matters worse, many of the screenshots are clearly from ColdFusion 3.0. Come on, Ben!
Rating: Summary: This book is great! Review: I've read, worked with, used & referred to the ColdFusion 4.0 Web Application Construction Kit since it first hit the virtual shelves @ Amazon.com & it's great! When I was asked to create a custom CF training course for a private client recently, I told them this was THE book to use! I've been using CF since version 1.0 (at the time I was an Internet development project leader @ the Univ of Calif; we were the first educational institution in the US to use ColdFusion), but CF really became widely accepted @ the UC with version 3.0 & Mr. Forta's first book. This edition for Version 4.0 is easy to learn from & can enable you to begin developing sophisticated applications much more quickly than with other tools.
Rating: Summary: Easy to involved, well-explained. Review: ColdFusion could not be better explained by anyone but Ben Forta. I've had the book for three months now, and he's helped to get me up to speed with everything I needed to know. I'm a 19 year old Technikon Student and I got a part time web-dev, hosting etc. job with the resources Ben gave me. This book is priceless.
Rating: Summary: New to CF? Get this book!! Review: Great resource for those who need to eat the learning curve as quickly as possible.
Rating: Summary: Good resource, but not many changes Review: I had read the previous version of this book. What I can say is that not many changes were made to the newest one. It's still a great book for those who just started to learn ColdFusion. That's why I give this book 3 starts.
Rating: Summary: It Is The Greatest.. Review: The book is really good. If you are a begginner, you need to get this book. It has step by step instructions on what to do and it also explains what the code is actually doing.Great book.. I have all of Ben's books so far. He is a great teacher.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for the Semi-Newbie Review: Great Book! Myself having attempted time after time to get an .asp type database together for the web with disappointment right after another, I enjoyed this book tremedously. The book requires basic knowledge of HTML and how web-based servers work. Overall an Enjoyable read. I plan on Purchasing Volume 2 to extend my Capabilities. ColdFusion is the way to go! I just wish more webhosts would support it.
Rating: Summary: CF3.0 Admin? I don't think so. Review: I would have really liked this book if it had included the admin pages and details from ColdFusion 4 rather than just retaining information from CF3. I think it is a shame that this is the case considering that the cover states that this book is for CF4. The administration is the thing that requires an explination as the documentaion is completely vauge and nearly useless.
Rating: Summary: Ben and Company have done it again! Review: This book is the only reference for CF! This is the 3rd Book of Ben's that I have and it just keeps getting better. Even if you're an experienced Cold Fusion developer, it can never hurt to have the "Bible" by your side. If you want to learn Cold Fusion fast and thoroughly, this is the book you want.
