Rating: Summary: Good book for The Oracle Beginner Review: This is a good book for the oracle beginner. The concepts, unique to Oracle (from the perspective of a beginner or someone familiar with other database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server) have been plainly explained. Such explanation is not available in Oracle manuals or help files.Having said that, the book, at times, tries to simplify subjects too much. As a result, the book has a lot more pages than its necessary and might run the risk of frustrating the reader. I would've given it a higher rating if it was shorter and more to the point. Good book regardless.

Rating: Summary: Best Read in a Technical book in years. Review: This is an excellent book for both beginners and experienced Oracle people. Easy to understand, it is not an advanced DBA book, but covers thoroughly the basics in an easy to read, non-sleep inducing technical book. I would recommend it to anyone who wants the basics at hand at all times.
Rating: Summary: A good read for a beginner Review: This is quite a remarkable book, good for beginning DBAs. The material covers enough to let you know what to expect as a DBA and how to solve the problems you'll face. The writing style is okay. There is enough detail to figure oiut what they mean. I bought a second copy and sent it to my cousin who is also learning DBA.
