Rating: Summary: Not Primarily a VB.NET book Review: From the title and initial reviews, I was hoping for a book that explained VB.NET methods simply, without a lot of the MS techno-speak. This book turned out to be geared more for ASP developers, particularly using SQL Server databases. I am using Oracle with VB.NET and have found little to justify spending money on this book. Very disappointing. To compound the injury, the book is very loosely organized.
Rating: Summary: nice job, well done Review: good job here by Karl Moore, well organized and lots of tips. i agree with all the other great reviews, this book has saved me years!!
Rating: Summary: Very Nicely Done Review: Having been an avid reader of Karl Moore's articles on VB & VB.Net programming for quite some time, my decision to purchase this book was really a no-brainer. I was NOT disappointed. If you've read Karl Moore's book, "Visual Basic.NET: The Tutorials", then you already know that he has an impressive ability to take somewhat complex subject matter, and present it in an enormously understandable manner. This book brings us back into the classroom and picks up where his last book left off. This time around, he focuses much less on an introduction to VB.Net and gets started on exactly how to tackle the real world issues that we face in building effective windows and web applications. It's really something to pick up a book and read about surprisingly simple and extremely effective methods of accomplishing tasks that you previously pulled your hair out to accomplish... if you were able to even accomplish them at all. This really seems to be the whole focus of the book: VB.Net IS complex, but like anything else; accomplishing your goal isn't so hard... once you know how. I've recently read that Karl Moore is planning to take a break from writing further books on the subject, which is extremely well deserved, yet I can't help but to be somewhat disappointed that I'll be forced to settle for the plethora .NET books by other authors that seem to be more about getting published than real-world programming.

Rating: Summary: Carry this book at all times Review: I have 50 pounds of .NET books. This is the only one that always has the answers I need. It explains every technique in one or two pages instead of the 50 pages that most authors seem to prefer. The author is obviously a developer. He cuts right to the solution every time. I'll definitely look for his books first everytime I add to my collection. Definitley buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Best-seller!!! Review: I heard this book was a best-seller and i see why after buying it. When so many books have such poor information on REAL developers, this is the one shining light. i bought Mr Moore's "Tutorials", but this is his ultimate piece of work.. if you ues VB .NET or ASP.NET you have to BUY THIS, you will be amazed!!
Rating: Summary: Great book, worthy of praise Review: I never write online reviews, but this book is worthy of praise. doesn't look like it needs yet another positive review but you just can't be negative about it. Good book full of solid code, saved me months!!
Rating: Summary: Buy it even if you are a C# coder! Review: I'm a Karl Moore fan after reading this book. It contains so many useful code snippets that I didn't want the book to end. While some of the examples can be found online in other people's tutorials, Karl's pellucid explanations and sample code make this publication worth purchasing. The Ultimate VB.NET and ASP.NET Code Book is the only Visual Basic .NET guide I have bought; translating the code into C# is easy and is certainly worthwhile considering the usefulness of the code examples. No matter what your level of .NET proficiency may be, check out this latest work by Karl Moore. I think you will like it!

Rating: Summary: Straight to the point...All killer no filler. Review: I'm currently taking a web programming in windows course in college in which we are learning ASP.NET and VB.NET. I originally bought one of microsoft books, but the book was incredibly long, making it impossibe for me to read in the time avaiable, and was very dry. Karl Moore's Ultimate VB.NET and ASP.NET book on the other hand was a godsend. Straight to the point, gave me exaples which help me do what I had to do, and there were lots of examples (from the book) on the apress website.
