Summary: You're not an Access developer unless you have this book!
Review: This has to be THE book for Access developers. It is comprehensive to say the least, clear and concise. Written by three of the best Access gurus in the world, the level of knowledge is unsurpassed.

The book is not for beginners but if you can currently do some basic coding then buy it, dip into it and learn how to do the job properly!

The Developer Handbook series (from 2 to 97) is a great buy and well worth the money. If you've got any spare cash left over also get the VBA Developer Handbook (now available in a boxed set with the Developers Handbook.

Summary: outstanding and indispensable!
Review: This book is outstanding -- and absolutely indispensable for the Access developer.

The publisher is also unsurpassed. There was a printing problem with my book, and they immediately rectified the problem (with a brand new book and diskette, et cetera). Be very assured that this isn't typical; some publishers just ignore such letters, and don't even have the courtesy to respond. I'm now a loyal Sybex fan, and this book is unsurpassed.

Summary: I quote this book like Jerry Falwell quotes Holy Scriptures
Review: To put it mildly, the authors of this book are Gods, this book is their Bible, and I am a loyal disciple. The Church of Microsoft Access is assembling its congregation. Let's start a new religion!

Summary: Not For Beginner's or Intermediates!
Review: Like their previous book for Access 95, this book on Access 97 is crammed full of extremely useful information for the ADVANCED developer. Note: It is NOT a book for beginner or intermediate Access programmers. And if you think you are an "advanced" Access programmer, the arrival of this book may prove two things: 1.) that you over-estimated your skills and 2.) that you just wasted $50. ......My suggestion: first go to a bookstore to check the book out. If you can understand it, first congratulate yourself (!!!), then go home and order it via Amazon.com. Most Access users, including professional developers (myself included) will, however, decide that either they don't need the information presented and/or they simply do not understand the material. (I should note that most material is just presented without any explanation of why it works - it's up to you to figure out why and possibly adapt it to your projects.......In short, the authors REALLY know their stuff, but the book was written for extremely advanced developers like themselves. And if you are not one of these, but are a mere mortal like most of us who earn a living working with Access, then you are simply wasting your money.

Summary: Another 6 stars book
Review: I have use the Access2 Developer's Handbook and find it extremely useful...full of samples , tips and tricks. When I know it is available, I have anxious waiting for the book to arrive in my city. Check nearly all the bookstore every one or two weeks. Finally arrive in June 97 and grab it the first time I saw it...Did not even bother to open it since it is still strinkpack. Never regret getting it.

Summary: time-saver
Review: Finally a book for the more experienced Access developer with code and samples that can easily be used in your own applications. This book already saved me so much time, I wish I would have bought it sooner. Maybe the best part is that you don't have to read the entire book to get the most use out of it.

Summary: Great book but not for biginners or advanced users
Review: This book is full of verry, verry good information but do not take this book if you like to lurn Access. I have a lot of books about Access i like this a lot use it for refrerance to build Good reliable database programs. Feel free to email me if you like to.

Summary: Not for starting. Only for Power Developers
Review: I paid $64 (with taxes) for the latest 3rd ed of this book. And I have been cursing myself for that now. I guess I didn't check the title keyword "Handbook". This book is only for Seasoned Access Developers who want to top off with tricks, tips, secrets and reusable code. For someone like me, who knows zilch about Access, this is not the starter book, that I thought it would be.

I have now bought Alison Balter's "Mastering Access97" and in a few months would be somewhere so that I can go back to read Litwin's book.
