Rating: Summary: Bible for Component Based Testing Review: I did Software quality testing and Software Quality Assurance courses under Dr.Gao Jerry. I bought this book for my course. Now it has become Bible for all my QA needs. I proudly say that I am working as a QA engineer for a leading web based company because of the knowledge I gained through his book and his lecture. I didn't have any knowledge in QA before buying this book.
The chapters in this book describes the issues, challenges and solutions in component-based software testing and quality assurance. I highly recommend this book for Professionals and College graduates who want to pursue their career in Quality Assurance.
Rating: Summary: excellent book for software testing & quality assurance Review: I highly recommend this book for college graduates and professionals who want to brighten their career in QA & testing areas. I have done software quality assurance and testing courses under professor Gao., and this book describes about different testing methods, phases, issues, challenges etc. It has tremendously increased my knowledge in component-based software testing and is useful in my current software projects. It is the best book in the area of component-based software testing.
Rating: Summary: the best book for component-based software testing Review: If you are looking for a book for component-based software testing, I highly recommend you this book. It doesn¡¯t matter you are a beginner or an experienced professional, I am sure you will learn a lot from this book. I am a graduated student of computing engineering. I don¡¯t know any thing about component-based software testing before I read this book. It gives me very clear concepts of what software components are, what component-based software testing is, and what are differences between component-based software and traditional software. The author gives me the deep discussions on the validation testing methods for software components, a framework and distributed environment for component performance measurement. This book also covers different test phases, unit test, integration test and regression test which are very useful in the software testing and developing in real world. Right now, I use it as a reference book for my project. I also try other book about component-based software testing. Finally, I think this is the best one of component-based software testing. It will be very useful for my future industry working experience too.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Book on Software Testing and Quality Assurance Review: Reviewer: Kavitha Devireddy. This is excellent book on Software Testing and Quality Assurance for Component-Based Software. Gives depth knowledge of testing coverage, testing criteria on black box and white box testings and automation testing. I also attended Dr. Jerry Gao's classes for Software Quality and this book helped me very much in learning the testing concepts and also doing my course project.
Rating: Summary: New in Component Testing Review: The first 2/3 of this book addresses the issues and challenges of software component testing. These parts release several effective software component testing techniques to professional and students who have practical or academic purposes in reading this book. I believe the author uses innovative test frameworks and methods in the design of a new testable component, also known as Testable Bean, within a distributed client/server environment. Besides, I would like to recommend the reference list in the end of each chapter. It provides a wide thinking for each issue. The later 1/3 of this book mainly discuesses software quality assurance which is the next stage of software testing. It covers a lot for component-based software.

Rating: Summary: Component-Based Quality Assurance Review: This book addresses the challenges and issues in quality assurance for both software component and component-based software. It provides a systematic description of the software validation methods: white-box testing, black-box testing and test automation for components; integration, regression and performance testing for component-based software. About the performance testing, the author gave detailed performance testing models and metrics for evaluating component-based software. With the models and metrics, one can easily achieve a systematic solution to performance measurement and evaluation for component-based software.
From this book, I learned not only how to test the software, but also how to build a software component with enhancing the component's testability in mind. It's a fairly good book in software (especially component-based software) quality assurance area.
