Summary: Good
Review: Looking for 2nd edition of this title. As the versions(3.5 / 4.1) explained in the book is out-dated.

Summary: The AIX Survival Guide
Review: The best book available for AIX system administrators. Hopfully a newer version will be released shortly.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: If only IBM wrote their documentation like this!
Review: This book covers all the major topics you will need to understand, administer, and troubleshoot aix. It is a smallish book but is packed full of great info, undocumented commands, and is even good reading. Smokin!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Covers a bit of everything
Review: This book has helped me adapt reasonably well from a Solaris background to an AIX environment. This book will give you most of what you need (given a reasonable Unix background) to administer any AIX box short of an SP. If get an SP, it's time to invest in some training coupons.

Summary: Good book
Review: This book is packed with lots of useful information. It is targeted for a UNIX sysadmin who is switching to AIX. If you are new to the UNIX this book will not be a good place to start. However the language is clear and if you do not know something you can usually figure what to look for in a general UNIX book to get a necessary background.

Summary: When I am in a panic situation, I use this book
Review: This is a good book, and though I have more than a dozen unix books, whenever I get into a panic situation, and I need the solution "write now", I always refer to this book. I highly recommend it to any AIX System Administrator. Eagerly waiting for the next edition of Aix Survival Guide.

Summary: Excellent AIX reference book with plenty of practical tips
Review: This is an excellent AIX reference book with plenty of practical tips for system administrators. It differs greatly from the IBM's AIX manuals because the content is concise, focused and describes the virtues (and shortcomings) of AIX. I have been preparing for IBM's advanced AIX system administration certification exams and have found the information this book to be extremely useful not only for the exams, but also in my daily administration duties. The author clearly knows his stuff!

Summary: Having purchased several books on AIX this is the BEST!!
Review: This is by far one of the best books I have found on AIX and its administration. Siegert takes you from an overview to minute detail in just a few words and then points out the potholes in the road. GREAT BOOK!! Glad I found it. I am no novice to AIX having been weaned on the RTPC. This book has taught me much I thought I knew already about AIX. Thanks to Andreas Siegert for writing this book.

Summary: Out of date and over priced.... but still good.
Review: This is the only good commercial book about AIX. Is it because of IBM's Red Books being so good? Maybe, it's certainly not because of their (...) man-pages. This book will get you through everything till you hit an SP environment (PSSP), take IBM classes after that!
