Solaris 8: The Complete Reference

Summary: I wish I could memorize 678 pages...
Review: This wfaulk guy must be a genius - I wish I could memorize 700 pages of Solaris documentation. Maybe this guy doesn't need any manuals at all (must be a real "wizard"). I can't remember every command, and man pages do NOT cover everything that you need (come on wfaulk, it's not even April Fool's Day!). As for LDAP and DHCP, these are not even Solaris-specific services, and they're not new. My suggestion: RTFM if you can't find it in a book. This book is not perfect - but it's not all that bad either. FIve stars for breadth.

Review: While the book provided a good overall reference of Solaris, dealing with alot of books that don't touch on subjects like IPV6, NIS+, and proc . This book did. The title is decieving . It doesn't cover much of the new specific features of Solaris 8 other then IPv6. Even then it is underwhelming.

Review: You can't cast this book in any category. It is not for beginners since almost nothing is explained, but rather is 'listed'. It is certainly not a "Reference" as its name implies since is missing tons of information. And it is not for a System Administrator. A total dissapointment. I gave 2 stars because you might get some information out of it...
