Rating: Summary: More then Great ! Review: I didn't know a thing about ASP. After i bought this book, everything was very clear, the information and the method used in this book are very easy to understand, i would say : a good book with a good teacher (Kauffman). Buy it today.
Rating: Summary: best technical book ever read Review: I'm a computer science student who has read a lot of technical textbooks. This one has been the best. It provides a very clear yet in depth look at exactly how to get an ASP database up and running.
Rating: Summary: Excellent ASP/ADO Database Tutorial! Review: This is an excellent book for anyone who is already a little familiar with ASP, and wants to use ASP and ADO to interact with a database. The book goes into great detail about building robust online database-driven applications, while remaining very easy to read and comprehend. Many excellent and highly useful examples are provided. I very highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: A Dream come true Review: I own 7 books on ASP and Beginning ASP Databases is By FAR the BEST of them! Its actually the best technical book I've ever read. All I ever wanted was an ASP book that gives crisp, easy to understand explanations that don't drone on and on, and REAL-WORLD examples (not "Hello World" garbage), and this book is exactly what I wanted. You do need very little ASP knowledge before tackling this book, but the author makes that clear before starting. This is the only ASP book I have that I will NOT lend out to other people, its just too valuable. Thanks John!
Rating: Summary: Great book for beginners Review: I've just finished all the chapters in this book except the final case study . . . AND :) it is one of the finest books that I have seen for beginners in ASP/ADO topic. It is very detailed and yet precise. Highly recommended. I am now ready for the Professional ASP book.
Rating: Summary: beginning DATABASE Review: This is the most clear book I've ever seen (a little too detailed, but maybe necessay for beginner). The author says he is a teacher, and after reading the book, I believe he did not lie. Every chapter includes exercises and quiz, and answers, ... However, you should realize that this book is beginning DATABASE, not beginning ASP, if you want the easiest book on ASP, take beginnging ASP 3.0. The book is between <<beginning ASP 3.0>> and <<professional ASP>>, I think. Based on its style and clearness, and not the difficulty, I give it 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Meshes ASP and databases together Review: This book not only taught me how to add, update, read, and manipulate databases, it gave me real situations where a solution was needed. I recommend this book to anyone who knows VERY basic ASP and wants to become a DB guru.
Rating: Summary: Great book for building databaase with ADO and ASP Review: This is one of the best technical books I have read. There are plenty of examples and the author takes you through a logical flow of how to build an interactive database using ADO and ASP. The author clearly explains each of the ADO objects; even how and when to use them. I can't wait for the "Professional" version in July.
Rating: Summary: As good as it gets Review: Finally I have found a book that actually teaches me something. I recommend this book to anyone wishing to understand working with ASP and databases. And although he says you need to know some ASP before beginning (which is true), through his examples and explanations you can understand how the code works. What a great book, please Mr. Kauffman, write another book on how to Develop E-commerce apps with Access and ASP, I would pay anything for it.
Rating: Summary: Yes! A tech teacher who can teach! Review: Thank you, John Kauffman! Finally -- a tech book written by someone who understands and respects the learning process and therefore the student's time -- instead of that tired, arrogant ode to "How cryptic can I be while showing how smart I am?" This book is a steal -- from the lucid writing to the clean layout to the painstaking editing -- worth every penny and then some. The "how it works" explanations are priceless; and the Common Errors alerts and Summary sections save tons of time. Very practical, very Real World, very refreshing.
