Rating: Summary: Great Way to learn ASP Quickly Review: This book lives up to all its good reviews. I have programed some in various languages and am already familar with Access (but not SQL). After reading through the book I was able to take ASP code off the web for visitor tracking, customize it, and add the new code to our company web site (after I learned about HTML!). When I ran into trouble with the database end, this book was there with very detailed examples (often more detailed than I needed) and solid explanations of all the different ways to connect to the database.Great job - perfect book for mid level programmers who want to learn ASP quickly.
Rating: Summary: Best book to start ASP DB Review: I had just begun to learn ASP when I bought this book. The company that had just hired me put me on a large project using asp pages accessing a variety of db's. This book saved me. John Kauffman has an excellent method of teaching that's appearent in this book. He not only thoroughly covers connecting, adding, updating, etc., he also throws in some great programming techniques and computer science practices. I had bought several other books and ended up scrapping them all. This one cover everything I needed. I partnered this book with Pro ASP Data Access (Wrox also), which I didn't like as much, to covered the serious Oracle needs.
Rating: Summary: Database relationship Review: This book gives detailed idea for using database in ASP. Many professionlas can also review this book for advance techniques.
Rating: Summary: This book got me a 90% raise Review: After reading this book, I posessed the skills to get that web designer job of my dreams. I never would have gotten it if I didn't read the book. This is an excellent book. It is superior to other programming books, because the main author has been an instructor with over thousands of students he has the experience to know the common errors that people make when trying to program in ASP. The most helpful feature of this book, for me, is that after showing you the code, he explains what it is doing (in detail) for each and every part.
Rating: Summary: A "must buy" ASP book Review: The first thing i found in this book is the excellent learning style which leave readers think that as if a lecturer is teaching them. In fact, i might called this book Beginning Step-by-step ASP Databases. The explanantion is very clear which is crucial for readers who uses English as their second language. Furthermore, the examples are FULLY EXPLAINED and even tell other possible options for a particular solution. I really love the way the author organises the book - from easy to difficult and then a case study for you to see the whole picture. However, I do not recommend this book to those who does not have any experience/knowledge in ASP. It is better to start of with another pure basic ASP book. All in all, i am looking forward to buy another book from the author.
Rating: Summary: Very Good book on ASP and ADO Review: This title has prepared me for the next step in my IT career (Web Development). Very detailed explanations of different aspects of ASP database development. I have gone from being a little uncomfortable with the language to being very comfortable with ASP. I did not give 5 stars as the case study at the end contained some errors which went unresolved in the text as well as undocumented in the errata. Good book for the beginner though.
Rating: Summary: Expert programmer? New to ASP? This may not be the book. Review: This book is as much for those beginning database programming with ADO as it is for those new to ASP. The problem is the emphasis seemed to be heavier on how to use the data-access objects of ADO, that it did on developing ASP applications. If you're a rather experienced developer who has a strong understanding of accessing databases via ADO, consider another book altogether. Much of the material will be redundant for you. Most of the Wrox books I've read are "quality". This one is certainly good, but if you happen to be an experienced programmer bridging your skillset over to the internet/ASP world, "Beginning ASP" by Wrox is more than sufficient. If you've read it and still want more, I'd skip this book and move on to one of the more advanced ASP books, perhaps "Professional ASP".
Rating: Summary: pure Genius!! Review: This guy is simply a genuis, fantastic book i read this Whole book within a week (quite thick) which i have never done before with any other computing book and now feel confident in creating dynamic web pages.
