Summary: Could Wrox Press Offer More
Review: There isn't enough that I can say about Wrox authors. I currently have ten books published by Wrox from ASP to XML to Site Server. If you want the most out of a ASP/ADO Database experience read this book. Then pick up the "ADO RDS programming with ASP" book. Reading these books will turn you into, at least, an ASP/ADO and Database Connectivity guru.

Summary: Great for learning and reference
Review: I have found this book to be a great reference source for me. I have several years ASP experience, but like anyone else do not remember every thing about it and the available components. This book helped me prepare and get my MCP for Interdev.

Summary: A gem. Six stars! Should win the technical Pulizter prize.
Review: The missing link for ASP web developers who are ready for databases connectivity. You do not need to know ASP to benefit from this book. I did not. Using a simple format the author takes you from basic ASP installation, to building HTML forms which add, delete, and update information on your local DB server. Every word in the book is carefully worded so you never second guess the author's intentions. Things to note: The book's database and scripting focus is Access and VBscript. But It is easy to create the example DB tables in SQL Server - that's what I did. Download a single file from the WROX website and all of the working examples in the book are at your disposal. You don't waste any time figuring out coding problems, Instead your main focus is reviewing the code and analyzing how it worked so well. This book is better than any $1500 ASP training course. It is the single Web development resource which connects all of the pieces together for you. Thanks John!

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: Finally, someone who includes all the detail on how to set up your system so you can go through the sample code. How many times have you bought a book, only to spend a whole lot of time in getting the appropriate system settings before even writing a line of code. In this book the author takes you step by step and gives you a number of reason why something might not work. It's hard enough to learn a new language without the frustation of being unable to run the sample code.

This is not to say the rest of the book was not very well done. Actually the books a twofer, giving you both experience in ASP and ADO. I wish all books were written in this fashion.

Summary: Dividends from the start
Review: Been getting into ASP gradually...recently I was assigned a short-fused deadline to attach a ASP frontend to a SQL Server Database ... I went to Amazon.Com and bought "Beginning ASP Databases" and within a few short sessions with the book, the database and Web pages were developed and running in practically no time. Kudos, Mr. Kauffman! I plan on reading it cover-to-cover, so I don't miss a THING!

Summary: Great Book for learning ASP Databases
Review: This is a very good book for learning how ASP works with Databases. I really enjoyed how the author showed many of the common mistakes that are made when working with ASP and Databases. If you are a beginner to Databases and ASP, get this book. This book provides the foundation needed to use and become proficient with ASP and Databases.

Summary: Beginning ASP Databases
Review: If you have signed up for an ASP database class, drop it and buy this book. Kauffman has structured this book just like a class room environment. He shows you how to write the code that you will use in the work force, explains the code in detail, has you work on projects (with answers given), and then continues to build upon previous topics. This book will never have dust on it!

Summary: Great book to learn database driven web sites!
Review: I really like this book even though I am familiar with ASP. This book teaches you all the basics on linking databases to web sites. Examples are easy to follow. Chapter 16 is excellent! I hope that the coming book Professional ASP Databases will be even better.

Summary: Great for beginners, intermediates in web db programming
Review: I've been looking for a good book on web database programming, but since now have had to settle on learning from others and my own mistakes. This is a great book to help you get a jumpstart on creating interactive web databases! It focuses mostly on Access, but it also explains SQL Server at the same time.

As an advanced ASP developer and an intermediate web database programmer, just by reading the first 6 chapters the first day I got it, I can already see how this will save you alot of time as it points out common mistakes, while also suggesting optimization techniques. I also like the thorough explanation he gives throughout his examples.

Summary: Terrific book for ASP/ADO newbies!
Review: ...and even for seasoned VB programmers like me. Chapter 16 (ADO tips and tricks) is worth the book's money! This book cleared my fear on becoming a Web programmer, and now I am doing functional pages for my company. Good work, John!
