Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Highly recommended Review: I knew nothing about ASP, and after reading it cover to cover was able to develop ASP pages that made database calls with a great level of confidence. This is one book I refer back to over and over again for it's great examples. A well-written book that is easy to understand and follow. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn ASP, regardless of their experience level.
Rating: Summary: VERY NICE for Beginners And Intermediate Review: I have just started learning ASP and I have found that this book has been VERY useful. John has given MANY great examples for the most common ASP uses. What I like the most is that he lists the CODE for a new lesson/page that he then shows you the output from. Then he breaks the code down into small sections and details EACH SECTION telling you exactly what is being done in each one. Very nice. The only thing it needs is a CDROM WITH EXAMPLES.
Rating: Summary: Humayun Ali Review: A good beginner book. A must have if someone wants to become profficent in ASP database programming. Every topic is detailed in great depth, which makes every chapter understandable.
Rating: Summary: You Can't Go Wrong Review: Although I was tough on John's first book, Beginning Active Server Pages 2.0, his second book is a winner. ASP Databases is almost better than going to a class because John writes as if he is sitting next to you--the inexperienced novice. I have already used this book to create a working, productive database with ASP for my firm and plan to do much more with it in the future. My compliments to your efforts, John. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Whoa, what a choice. Review: Was I lucky to buy this book or what! Teaches all you need and could ever want to know about ASP and their main use, Databases. A wonderful companion for evey ASP newbie/intermediate programmer.
Rating: Summary: A Quick Guide Review: After looking around for months for a comprehensive book that covered the aspects of ASP and web design I craved, I found this book. It has helped me grow in skills so much that I now feel confident enough to start my e-commerce business. This book is just the right mix of information and examples and would be helpful for all experience levels of developers. SUPER!
Rating: Summary: Very Helpful High Quality Book! Review: I just finished reading the book from cover to cover. The book has a VBScript/Access/SQL Server slant, and I'm using JavaScript and Oracle, but all of the concepts translate well into whatever scripting or database system you use. The sample code always seemed to be right on the money for explaining the concepts. Although the examples weren't complex, they did illustrate more complex topics in a simple implementation. The chapter on the "Sailors Case Study" provided a vey good example of a complete Web application using cookies and logins and registration and so forth that would serve as a basis for more complete sites. I got a lot out of the book and even though it's 800 pages or so, it's an interesting read from beginning to end. Good stuff!
Rating: Summary: Great book for novice ASP/Database programmers. Review: I just bought and finished reading "ASP Databases" and found it to be excellent, well written, and a joy to read. Very usefull for those who wish to hook up a database to their web site using ASP. If you know any Visual Basic and MS-Access, this book will help you bring these technologies together and develop a first rate solution on the web. I look forward to reading the Professional edition to "ASP Databases".
Rating: Summary: Great book that deals with ASP/ADO. Review: I'm working on web design mostly, but I had to learn ASP so I decided to buy this book. It's a great book, but if you don't know VBScript/JavaScript or little of ASP then you should consider buying Beginning Active Server Pages 2.0 book from Wrox first.
Rating: Summary: Simply the best book out there Review: When I bought this book, I had NO ASP experience. After recieving it I had created a functional ASP front end to a database whithin the first hour. I do reccommend, however that anyone with no Visual Basic experience also get a good book on VB along with this book.
