Summary: Do not buy this book!
Review: This book could not possibly have been proof read before going to print. The text is so full of errors that at times it is impossible to understand what the author is trying to say. I find it shocking that a book that is so full of errors could actually be published and sold!

Aside from the many errors, the book is very simplistic in nature. People new to programming will have a hard time understanding what the author is talking about and experienced programmers will be very disappointed.

I strongly advise against purchasing this book. In my opinion it should never have been published.

Summary: A fairly good beginner's guide
Review: This book gives a fairly good introduction to VB. The one item that really stands out in my mind is the pacing. The pacing is excellent. Never seems to go too slow or too fast. The reading does get a little boring though toward the end. It seems that they kindof gave up on being interesting after about chapter 15. Good book overall though.

Summary: It has its place...
Review: THIS IS NOT A REFERENCE BOOK! This book is good if you've done some programming before, you're familiar with MS Windows in general, but haven't touched VB. It is somewhat annoying how every few paragraphs it trys to tell you that you're already an advanced VB programmer. (This isn't 1998 anymore...) If you decide to use this book, keep in mind that a "day" to this book assumes you have nothing to do all "day." Plan on spending around four to six hours for each "day." Also, the entire contents of this book is roughly equivalent to two college semesters on VB. If you have a choice between school or a 20-something day book, go with school.
