Summary: I'm a Dummy at the First Try
Review: My 8th edition just arrived which I ordered because my new XP from Dell arrived with WordPerfect 11, and it was overwhelming. I started at the beginning by trying to follow the directions to create an icon. Page 8, jumpstarting WordPerfect's directions were not working. Why it said to right-click the WordPerfect Office 11 option when I wanted WordPerfect is beyond me, but I followed the directions. The pop-up menu appeared, displaying this list of commands:
technical support
clipbook

Perfect expert
Quattro Pro
Word Perfect.

The #3 direction said: Choose Copy from the list.

There was no copy in the list.

I could not sleep all night failing at the first direction. I woke up this morning and grabbed my book:Easy Windows XP Home Edition in full color by Shelley O'Hara and Kate Shoup Welsh by Que and went to page 216.

They said 1. "After you've located the program file for which you want to create a shortcut icon, right click it.
2. In the menu that opens, choose Send To, and then select Desktop.
This actually was there. It worked. I have an icon on my desktop. It works.

I hope the other directions will be better. I had the fear of failure and "dummy" at the first step.

Summary: New to WordPerfect? Buy this book.
Review: This is the book you want if you've never used WordPerfect before. It covers all the basics and then some. I recommend it to anyone who is new to WordPerfect.

Summary: WORD PERFECT 11 FOR DUMMIES
Review: Very basic beginning Word Perfect -- very little, if any, information about new features of WP 11 and how to use them.
