Summary: I especially liked the cover. Very colorful, indeed.
Review: I especially liked the guy with the half open head with the cool things coming out like the plane and the remote control and the blimp and the compact disk. That was so neat

Summary: Thumbed through daily
Review: I find myself turning again and again to Schildt's book. As a new user to C its proved invaluable. The bad reviews of this book no doubt will receive more attention than the good ones, but you'll find they are very unspecific.

This book is excellent if you want

A clean, clear acessible manual for the beginning C programmer.

A book which stands far above the Dummies series with little chattiness and lots of good information.

Shortening down the mailing list example would be nice, but that's about my only complaint.

Summary: Inaccurate
Review: I have an older copy of this book (2nd edition) and I still use it every time I have a difficult time with code. I have no doubt that the fourth edition is even better. This book has helped to make me a great C programmer, and in addition is as good a reference on the core C functions as the online documentation in Visual C and Borland. Very handy when you want to brush up on your C, and it's a great night read too (I am not joking). Best book on C, ever.

Summary: Well-written and logical
Review: I have just returned from a successful project in Philadelphia and found this an invaluable reference with good source code examples. Of particular use to me was how to implement arrays of structs and quicksort. NOT a tutorial, but a pretty good reference. PS: Is there a rounding function in C? If so I could not find it in this book.

Summary: "C the Complete Reference" is a great book for beginners
Review: I read many of the other reviews and was disappointed by the obvious scorn some feel for the author and his book. As a Computer Science student I found that the book cleared up alot of confusion that I had about C and introduced me to many new functions and ways that I could use the C language. You guys give Schildt a break nobody is completely perfect (inclucing you!) and he does state in the beginning of the book that he was including many examples that were not ANSCI standards. So get off your sad horses. The book is the best C "reference" opps I mean guide that I've encountered!

Summary: Easy to read
Review: I read this book with in 3 weeks. I found it very good written who ever there are some minor mistakes in the explonation

Summary: Great Reference for Starter ----> Experts.
Review: I spent lot of time reaading lot of different books for C. After I bought this, I need nothing else. GIVE IT A TRY.

Summary: Best C book ever!
Review: I've been searching for a good C reference book, and this book is the best! It has it all, samples, good explainations. It doesnt confuse me like all the website tutorials.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good down to earth book for real programmers.
Review: I've seen some of the complaints about this book (like documenting void main() as working -- which it does on just about any C compiler even though it may not be official ANSI C). I haven't seen any legitimate errors only griping because some of the things in it may not be Ansi C. But for everyday programmers, the examples in this book are invaluable. A definite must buy. Also, check out some of these web pages that supposedly document the errors to get a laugh at the nit-picking. Definite nerds with no life.
