Summary: Decent book
Review: This book helped me get up to speed quickly. Will need to look to other books for in depth coverage of specific areas but I found this book handy for my transition to .NET. Where is the download?

Summary: Great Examples
Review: This book offers tons of sample code that actually works. Some of the examples introduce new ways of looking at the middle tier such as implementing the middle tier as a combination of assemblies, Stored Procedures, and XML. I believe the author did a great job of teaching how all these technologies are implemented with Visual Studio.NET.

The book also covers Enterprise Services which I have had a hard time finding good documentation.

Summary: Best practice tips
Review: This is an excellent book if you are looking for a detailed explanation of the tools that come with Visual Studio.NET and best practices for their implementation. It also includes chapters on how to use VS.NET to implement some of the .NET technologies.

Some of what I liked was the author's explanations of how the different technologies can be integrated followed by his opinion on how they should be integrated.

If you are an experienced developer then you should already know many of these concepts. I would recommend this book for new to intermediate developers and managers.

Summary: DEMYSTIFY VISUAL STUDIO .NET WITH THIS TEXT
Review: To the delight of most beginners (and intermediate learners), this book handled the basics of Visual Studio .NET very well.
Chores like typing codes, creating projects; as well as compiling and debugging methods received generous attention.
Also, many advanced learners will appreciate how some sections of this book (diligently) treated the most recent .NET technologies, which are currently being applied in the popular Visual Studio 7.
Overall, this text is a well-composed book which is likely to give newcomers all the accommodation that they may need without disappointing the more advanced learners.

Rating: 5 stars
