Rating: Summary: Best C book Ever For Beginners Review: This is probably the most straight forward beginners book for C you'll find. I am in the 6th grade and because of this book already know alot of C. This book will keep you up all night reading. Also, this book is conversationally written so it doesn't make you feel like you're reading a text book. All you have to do is read it and you'll know C!
Rating: Summary: Best Starting Block Ever! Review: I've tried over and over to learn C++, and every book on the subject didn't really give me a good handle on the syntax. Considering that it was my very FIRST language I was trying to learn, it was extremely frustrating. Then I run into this book, and voila, 10 days later, I'm a new man! I read about 50 pages a night (not hard to do, trust me, its easy reading! ) and spent days 8, 9, and 10 brushing up. With this background, the other supposed "beginner" C++ books were a breeze! Hats of to Greg on this one!
Rating: Summary: The title says it all Review: If you're looking for an intro to programming (especially C/C++ or Java), this is a good place to start. The writing is clear, the code is well commented, and the tone is far less patronizing than those "moron" books. Not required reading, but suggested.
Rating: Summary: With little knowledge.. it's understandable Review: I had no programming experience before reading this book. I found it well written and very easy to understand and follow along. Once you master this book you might want to go on to another book which is more detailed.
Rating: Summary: The Best For the New People like me Review: I got this book and found it easy to read and understand! It was awesome! You will learn C in this book. Ive tried to learn C many times before but got bored and moved on to something else but I couldnt put this book down! I read through it now Im ready to make some games :)
Rating: Summary: A pretty good book Review: After using C++ for a year I decided it was time to find out how to understand all those C programs found on most UNIX machines. This book was very helpful in finding the suttle differences between C and C++. If you know C++ you can get through the book in about a week. However if you're looking for a techie-type book, stay away from this one. It had some small bits of advanced information but not much. I'm now looking for soemthing that gets you from the basics to the good stuff. I also found that the logic in this book is not well explained and at some points it even looked flawed.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic For All Levels Review: This book is fantastic for all levels of readers. You can be highly skilled in other areas of computers or an absolute novice and this book will allow you to grasp C quite easily. By far the best beginning C book out there, this book will teach you C regardless of your OS, your experience level, and whether or not you have a compiler to use. Everything is easy to understand and fun to read at the same time.
Rating: Summary: Great C book for beginners Review: This is a great book for someone who knows nothing about programming, or even has a compiler. It starts of with the basics and then goes on to advanced stuff. My only complaint is that it not always ends a chapter with an exercise.
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I have just started this book....I haven't even gotten a compiler yet and I already have a grasp on the basics
Rating: Summary: The Absolute(ly Necessary) Beginner's Guide to C Review: Greg Perry, wherever you are, I'd like to congratulate you! I've read some of the recent C teaching texts, but this book, even though it's six years old, has taught me more in an hour than what I learned in a day's worth of reading those other books. The abundant examples allows for frequent experimentation, and the book itself allows for any programmer "wanna-be" to really learn the language at his or her own pace. A must have for beginning programmers!
